No news in weeks ?

It's been a while now since the last update on the news page. I guess it means Chris is working hard on the developpement of the next patch, what do you think, will female models be finished ? Will the walls work ?

I would like to use this post also to ask for news a little more often. I mean, I don't ask for much, just to know what's working on at the moment, how it's doing, if he encounters difficulties, etc... 2 or 3 lines a week would be cool :)
Letting us without any news for 3 weeks now, I may be the only one, but I feel a bit dead.

Hope this post won't generate too much hate.

If there no news of him just means he s working hard like posted from him, and i seen before (I've been very quiet the last month, and those who know me by now will know this means I'm doing a lot of work for a big update.)

Doesn t bother me the no news for a while, as there was not concrete time given to wait for update, and idk if you read what was to come in with it, tho i guess you might have a bit in mind the same i do, that Chrs might had change mind to add some more stuff into the update xD, tho i don t think would be walls, females maybe but i see rather more probabol armour crafting.

If you want to see real trouble because of anything then... steam forums in a nutshell, i wonder how Hatsune been handling as i guess she been so long there now :? .

I don't mind waiting a while between posting news, but three weeks is a bit long. I've been checking everyday the past week. I'm excited, and if he is having issues, or its still on track, or he decided add in new features to this next update early. I'd like to know.

I'm not complaining, but more frequent news in the future would be nice. I'm all for getting work done, so in his position i would probably do the same thing.

I have to agree. It's a bit long. He honestly doesn't have to say much, just a little "heartbeat" basically. Just mentioning some of the stuff he's working on, maybe some of his frustrations. Honestly, it doesn't have to be much. But a weekly update would alleviate a LOT of worries. Like I said, it can just be a few lines of chatter. It wouldn't take but 10 minutes out of his day and alleviate a lot of the anxiety of people who purchased the game.

You see, he's never released a game or project before as far as I know. As a developer, that scares the shit out of me. Especially when his updates get stretched out to nearly a month apart. It makes me question my decision to having bought in.

And I've bought into many unfinished games. Starsector (Fractal Softworks) may be in pretty much the same boat, but he is very consistently involved with the community forums. Starbound does daily updates talking about the work they're doing, which is way beyond the call of duty, although welcome. I know that 10 minutes a day isn't going to kill anyone's schedule.

I only get annoyed if an artist/developer/creator of stuff I want says, "Hey guys, this will be released on Piesday!" and Piesday comes and goes with no stuff I want and no news. Half Life 2, I'm looking at you with the eyebrows of doom.

Chris says his process is to keep his nose to the grindstone and largely off the site when he's churning out a big update. Some people do it differently, but that's what works for him. I don't begrudge him that because I want more frequent updates.

No matter how frequently a project updates people, the fans never get enough information to satisfy them. I'm following quite a few projects, and regardless how often they update someone comes along demanding more information. Patience is a virtue, the last update specifically notes that this was going to take a few more weeks.

Mr. Clawdius is correct. The next few updates are going to change quite a bit of things, so Chis is doing what Chris does during such plans. :ugeek:

I'm finally integrating all the character art that my freelance team of master artists has been working on for the last 9 months or so.
-The male base model has been totally replaced.
-The character editor now has facial editing features
-Characters can now have hair. The range of choices will increase over time

High priority for following updates:

Female characters
Beards
Armour crafting
There will also be "Plastic Surgeon" NPCs in bars, these guys will re-activate the character editor for you so you can modify your existing squad of clones.

I'm also looking at tagging certain gear as "Uniforms". Meaning if you loot a samurai for his armour, and get seen walking around wearing it, then other guys from that faction will be all like "Oi! Where did you get that armour?" which will damage your relations with that faction. In a future update I'll also make it possible to use as a disguise to infiltrate faction bases and stuff. Looted uniforms will also have a lower re-sale value.
A voice in your computer's memory that refuses to go away. Now with 15% more (side notes!)

Semper fidelis amplus crustulum!

I'm following a handful of projects with large teams and people dedicated to customer relations that update maybe once a month, Dead State, Wasteland 2, and Legends of Eisenwald are all run by larger teams and update only when there is important information to pass along. And I could only wish that Forsaken Fortress, Enemy, and Sui Generis would update the general public anywhere near once a month.

Compared to Dead State and their team of 15 including a brand new Producer to manage the community, which hasn't updated the general public since the 15th of May, Kenshi receives updates in a fairly timely manner. And that May 15th Dead State update was a Q&A video where the questions they chose to answer were what they would do in an actual zombie apocalypse, how their parents responded to them getting into video game development, with very few answers regarding the game itself. Of course if you backed the project at a high enough level to be able to read the Dead State Radio updates you'll get maybe two updates a month. They promised to do smaller, more frequent radio updates but that never materialized.

With any project, you have to be very careful what you tell your fans. And personally, short of Styg posting in nearly every thread on the forums for Underrail, I can't think of a single forum where there aren't calls for more information, more often. For a game with the scope of Kenshi, an update that replaces the armor art for every faction, introduces new armor art for the subsequent crafting update, replaces the character models and integrates a number of new customization features was always going to take time.

A lot of people seem to fail to see that and they only thing they see is "hair", missing even the character overhaul.

And i wouldn t think of this as complaint, o see complains you would need to go in steam, sometimes gos out some stuff so idiotic that makes laugh so hard, especailly one today  .

I think I see where we're seeing things differently: we're using different definitions of "a few." To you, a few is three-ish. To me, a few is like when I have a few drinks, which is...a bit more than three. Sometimes a lot more than three. Speaking of which...

lol at the drink stuff, I do the same :p
But when I say a few weeks, it's counted in weeks. Otherwise, I say "a month or so". Anyway, there's nothing I can do but wait, it's just that I'm waiting for DayZ and Kenshi, these are the only games that seems suiting my researches. (I'm more of an MMORPG guy, usually, but there's nothing even barely close to what I'm looking for atm)

I think i'm too greedy :p

One of the defining characteristics of humanity is wanting what we want when we want it, and even if they can stand waiting, people typically prefer instant gratification. After saying June for six months Shadowrun Returns pushed their release back to July 25th on June 18th, and while I'm happy to have a date for the release it is frustrating to be stymied in my plans for eluding mega-corps in a dystopian future.

So you'd never opt for instant gratification over waiting? So, if I asked you if you wanted a cold beer, you'd expect to have to wait until it snows? I think perhaps you're conflating the existence of a desire, with some puerile response if that desire is not fulfilled. I'd like a cold beer, and while I'd like it now, I haven't even bottled them yet.

If we didnt always want more or want it faster then we wouldnt be the 'top dog'.
Because it is in our nature to always want more we are always looking for ways to get more.

Simple really
The world is nothing but an illusion of the mind
