Ok given the joking name Id like to ask how do I recruit people into my fold
I got lucky and spawned with about 7 people already loyal (Thank god) but I want more to work with so I can start making armor and weapons. Any one possibly know?
Please don't say I gotta hire mercenaries, I just wana hire simple folk who might not like living in their town.

Check the bars in NPC towns (buildings with bottle on the sign over the front door).

There will be several NPCs in there, Plastic Surgeon, Guards, Barman, and others.
The others in there are people available for hire.

As you explore Kenshi further, you will find that it is possible to attach mods on top of existing game code, allowing you to hire more NPCs than the regularly available folk (which may, or may not, break your Kenshi experience).

Sadly, all of these people cost a little bit of c. (a.k.a. Cats, the Kenshi-verse currency), but again, the mods. ;)

We hope you enjoy your first adventures in the Kenshi-verse, and please let us know how it goes! :D

P.S. I'm extremely glad to see your recent activity on the forums. Nice and organized. :)

Technically speaking, c isn't short for cats anymore, because cats was short for catans. But the city of catan was renamed to capan to avoid potential copyright issues with a board game. I think it has been changed to "credits" but don't quote me on that. And if it is true, then I really hope it isn't final cause that's a bit lame. If I had to vote on a new name for it, it'd be either to keep it at just "cats" (instead of having it be short for catan) or "kesi" (from just removing some letters from kenshi).

Edit: yeah it's been a long boring day at work.

Currently there's no difference between "mercenaries" and "simple folk." They are all just people who one can hire from bars. But yeah, if you want more people to your squad, try asking around the bars.

And from all currency names, I'd prefer cats. No other games or movies or anything uses "cats" as currency so it gives a nice personal touch to the game.

I do like the sound of it. It just might not work because it's not a reference to Catan anymore. It does have a nice ring to it, I'll admit. But it might also make things much more confusing once Chris adds Nekuman, catgirls / catpeople, into the game.

Gotta pay with something, why not pay with Nekuman skins?

Or the skins of any species?

Could be a possible trade good whenever wildlife/hunting is implemented, but I wonder if Chris would be so twisted to allow scalping/skinning humanoids?

Or perhaps removing robotic limb replacements from dead bodies to be used on those still living that require them?

I love it. I tend to borrow book series as themes for my created party. Been using Dune recently, but some nice human leather opens up all sorts of options, maybe some WoT-themed Eelfinn/Aelfinn gear.
Maybe add some Soylent processors too!

WoT?
I don't think you're talking about World of Tanks. :P

He's talking about a game called "A Wheel of Time". Which they also call WoT.

You could take the limbs and give them to people in need, but I don't think that'd work on any limb that requires an anchored port of some kind. Those sockets would be hard to cleanly remove, and even harder to reinstall on someone else. Also: plenty of games use bandit scalps as proof of kills.

Don't remind me of the game... Extremely poorly executed.

So if Kenshi gets robotic prostheses, assuming that gets it's own research branch, what about powered exoskeletons at the top? Could be versions tailored to simple load-bearing at the beginning, then progressing to amplifying limb movement for speed or combat ability.

I don't believe any artificially enhancing gear would be fitting in Kenshi. Simply because "you get what you earn".

Assuming that the initial user of the implant had his/her arm removed cleanly either.
This is Kenshi! The cleanest methods come from the sharpest edges. :P

Umm...
Would you please elaborate on that point for me? I have a tendency to be overly literal and that statement just doesn't make sense to me, not in the context of an environment where all the gear is by definition artificial and enhancing. I suspect I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "artificially enhancing." My guess is you're asserting that exoskeletons would provide benefits in excess of the probable means one would have to go to in order to acquire them, in excess so much as to be overpowered in an experience diminishing way. I would agree with that being a possible problem, but I don't want to try to discuss a point you may not be making.

On a silly note, I've discovered that my brain has been broken by excessive time in various MMORPG's where enchanting gear was a method of enhancing my character. Every time I typed "enhanc-ing/-ment" in this post (I rewrote the post multiple times before I was satisfied with it), I spelled it "enchanc-ing/-ment."

I mean that, aside from styles of weapons, there will likely not be any equipment that will give the user enhanced stats (I.e. exoskeletons that enhance Str or Dex), because of Kenshi's focus on building the char you want to have from almost nothing.

Thanks! That makes sense. I still favor the idea of exoskeletons at the end of some sort of robotics tech progression, but they might not be worth the trouble. I'd figure on them only adding a couple points to existing stats while decreasing others, like something that amplified the strength of your arms in swinging a heavy weapon would give a penalty to run speed and weigh you down. Kinda like current exoskeletons in development that all tend to deal with one specific function, like carrying massive weight, but exceedingly slow and clumsy or helping a lamed leg bear weight again, but still not in a speedy fashion.

Also figure that they would be difficult to acquire, put at the end of a lengthy tech progression with a high resource cost.

They may very well not be worth implementing with realistic limitations, which probably is enough to nix the idea.
