Accidentally Open Shopkeeper Container -> Death
or.. just take a bit more time and click properly? You get a bright red bag which indicated stealing, that is more than enough of a warning.
Those "are you sure you want to X" pop-ups are far more annoying.

Do you believe the sexes should be equal?

Yeah that would also be better.Zeal wrote:Honestly It would be better to have a hold right click option for stealing. Simply clicking on it by accident shouldn't yield those kinds of results.
It would be better if you don't get a bounty for just looking at a shop's inventory.
The shopkeeper just force closes the inventory screen and tells you "get your hands off my things" though only if they see you peeking.
You would still get a bounty for lock picking of course.
It's like you walk in to a store and get arrested for looking at their wares.

Indeed.. There shouldn't be a bounty for simply looking. Only if you actually try to take something.Pancake wrote:It would be better if you don't get a bounty for just looking at a shop's inventory.

To be honest.. Rather than even having a right click option, why not just return it to the way it was, in that you can open and interact with anything freely. The only difference now being you can take something, and if someone spots you doing so, the shopkeeper, or whoever sees you doing it just calls the guards, and you get a bounty. Should probably make it so you can't put things in containers that aren't yours though, just to make sure there's no confusing conflictions
This right here.nuget102 wrote:How about a 'thief' mode? For example, maybe you have to be in 'sneak' mode to steal items?
I know its possible and I accidentally click the shopkeepers stuff all the damn time. Normally, it's while on the other side of town and I catch my mistake and re-click. But every once in a while I'm like, "What happened to steve going to sell the junk? Why is he getting beat up? ohhhh...dammit." Although, it's funny when you have someone who isn't afraid of shop guards. You snap the camera to a scene of corpses and your dude looking bored. Well I guess I might as well steal everything then. I'm already in trouble.
I'd also be ok a with a move-only key like ARGPs have so I can avoid all the clutter that sometimes freaks out my mouse cursor in crowded places or shops.
Bethesda's pickpocketing mechanics best reflect it in a sentence: Looking is fine, but taking is not.Pancake wrote:It would be better if you don't get a bounty for just looking at a shop's inventory.
