I'm not sure if this part is unfinished? or if I am experiencing a bug but I just discovered an event that feels awkward in the game. It seems the player characters cannot do damage or be damaged by a faction that considers the player an Ally until relations decrease to around 30. UC samurai and my character would just endlessly fake fight doing zero damage to each other until relations decreased.
I feel like this causes a bit of friction when a player plans to just betray his/her ally later on since it delays any attacks until the faction hates you enough. Kind of blocks the ability to choose to secretly betray someone and just sneak attack them like a scumbag
Faction Relation AI
I was thinking something like an adjustable minimum relation, so you decide who is your enemy. Dunno how it would handle temp allies.
Probably also a "temp enemy" flag could be used to override faction relations for an npc pissed off by the player (and other npcs that try to help him?).

I'll have to try and see if it's even possible to sneak knockout/assassinate an Ally npc. The whole event just felt kind of weird, as if it's an area of the game that isn't supposed to be played with and rather once the player chooses to ally with a faction the game is assuming it's with the intent of keeping a permanent alliance
I'm also pretty sure the Shinobi Thieves were also just hacking away at UC doing no damage to each other since I was allied with the UC and the Thieves at the time of my test betrayal

Actually that is on purpose. Otherwise when a fight starts near a town accidental splash damage would cause map wide brawls in every town. So in a general fight you will not do damage to anyone you are not aggro to. However you can right click on them and select Unprovoked attack at any time. This will instantly allow you to attack them and make them aggro to you.
You can do this to your allies but the odd event is that your characters and your former allies fight without doing any damage to each other until your relations decrease enough. So for about a few minutes the allies and my characters were ghost fighting each other

I'd say this is due to mentioned mechanics. The engine probably doesn't care if it's counscious attack or not, it's still banned on allies.
Sure, it's a little weird, and closes few possibilities, but ultimately, it's for the best

Why not some kind of confirmation, whether specifical or som mechanic, to ensure you really want the fight to happen? Stay on the safe side by default, but allow this thing to be done.
