steam would increase the profits, you are using outdated thinking, ive already explained this.

*Beside Steam taking a cut (big or small) of the Kenshi profits, they are able to dictate as to what content is allowed and how it is sold. Meaning Chris would need Steam's consent before he really can do anything with his product on steam (In terms or ads/content/selling and any additional features/add-ons. So Kenshi would have exposure, but Steam's way, not Chris'.

Steam gets:
What ever % portion of profits
Chris would need to play by Steam's rules

Chris gets:
More exposure from pc game giant.
More Sales.

*Of course this is only relevant after Alpha-build, so this is rather a discussion of future of Kenshi exposure.

I meant the legal aspects like distribution, publishing rights (is it valid after company changes name/LLC/CO etc...) for more info visit the URLs about Steam lawsuits.

Hey, on the off chance that you do go steam, please continue offering your DRM free client, especially for those of us who have already purchased your game and own a cd key?

Some of us see steam as nothing else but spyware.

I do support having it ON steam, but would it hurt having it sold on multiple platforms and in multiple forms?

Seriously, I don't trust steam. Never will. Never again!

me too. Never liked it, never will probably

(just some days ago, i got HM&M5 gold from gamestar, first thing i did was offer it on multiple forums for free obviously 8-) )

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

I never really understood the need to depend on a third party to install a game. (yes, yes anti-piracy :| ) Seriously, it takes 6 - 8 hours to load a game that would only take 1 - 2 hours from a cd.

If it's taking you over an hour to install games from CD, there's something going wrong. Also, get a fibre optic connection. I can download a 9gb game in under 40 minutes with a 30mb/s connection. And that's actually pretty slow for fibre optics.

It really doesn't take an hour for me to install a game from cd, I was giving an exaggerated description. I have DSL and when comparing DSL to fibre optics fibre optics yields allot more bandwidth then DSL. So for us using crappy copper wire over fibre optics downloading can be hell.

Steam is spyware if you tell it to be. Is your complaint seriously that you have the option to turn on your hardware statistics being sent to valve? This isn't origin we are talking about here.

A better a question is, what is your complaint?

What is wrong with continuing to offer the DRM free client while also offering it on steam? Even SPAZ does this, SPAZ even offers it on multiple websites.

We are not forced to like or trust steam.

No, a better question is the question i actually asked, and why you thought i was disagreeing with his point. I quoted what i was responding to, and made no comment on whether or not a standalone client should be offered. I agree that there should be one, but it doesn't mean i should mindlessly agree with all the drivel that anyone spits out because they use it to backup an opinion i happen to agree with. But if you want to bolster the us vs. them mentality, by all means, continue.

Nop, don't continue. If you have to troll/flame (or whatever) do it elsewhere, let's keep the topic as clean as possible ;)

Back to the topic 4 posts above, I got a/vDSL in brussels and it costs me already around 50-60e for a unlimited 100Mbit/s lane and 35e for 15Mbit/s limited to 100GByte/month. When they get glass fibers truly working, i hope prices will drop a bit

Can someone explain to me as to why service providers can put a data cap on bandwidth of people using conventional wires . Now I understand why the bandwidth is limitted for wireless users (i.e. there is an actual limit on the ammount of wireless frequencies and airspace) so yeah companies have to ration, but when the customer is using wires and/or fiber optics the limit is based on the thickness/type of wire. basically, is it even logical for service providers to put data caps on DSL/vDSL/fiber optic bandwidth? (If the service provider's equipmwent cannot handle the demand, then I can see why).

Well, I don't know who you're talking about. All I know is steam sucks. And when games go steam some of them like to not provide their product standalone, without all the steamware. So I see it as spyware if your product "needs" it to function.

So that is why I dislike steam. Because steam only games don't need to be steam only.

There isn't, they just want to control you.

MrHatmans, there is no need to double post. Just use the edit button to combine the posts and the reader will know who you are refering to by the correlating qoute above.

Also I know that you are responding to the question that was prompted to you, but try heed the warnings of the Mods. For the most part your response was not aggressive but.......

That + that = somebody somewhere probably going to get pissed. ( Then the topic gets disabled (just friendly advice :D )*

Based on what ATT just recently did to my phone plan I would have to agree, MrHatmans.

*This is based on prior experiances of random harmless phrases that somehow cause people to get pissed. (Not saying anyone would, but the internet is a vast place)

Right I'll make sure to use the multi-quote in the future.

And as for my response making someone angry, I guess that's his prerogative. And you have misquoted me, my response was towards his comment about his agreement or disagreement with someone else. When there is no "Us vs Them", this is my opinion formed from my own experiences with the steam service. I don't see why having a discussion about steam in a thread about steam can get this thread closed.

He's talking about a topic that got closed because people were getting sidetracked, staying half on topic, then they got out of hand, calling or not calling names  .

Anyway, staying on topic here means writing about steam in a manner related to kenshi. If you want to play kenshi on steam, you can say so, if you don't, you can write it down. BUT if you want to start arguing about whether Steam is good or not, or if what someone wrote is bullshit or not, open a new topic in the OFFTOPIC subforum with the title 'STEAM yea or nay', that's why that forum is there.

I'll delete anymore of this after my post without delay, diplomacy, doubt, emotion
