Because it shows the devs have run out of time and money and the publisher is making them cut features and rush. Doesn't apply to immortals like myself, who had no money to begin with

Lol, while I would eventually catch my breath and be annoyed, I'd laugh soooo hard if that were the case.
I doubt I could sit around till April waiting for a game, though. xD
There's only so much fun people can have on a forum for a game that hasn't been released yet.
Can't wait to see the partial release, though. I know it's not going to be even remotely a full game, but it'll be nice to at least be able to take part in what you've made so far. It'll also be much easier to help you out with suggestions and ideas after seeing what you've made thus far.
Hell, releasing the unfinished product may even result in some of your work being done for you, if the modding tools are there. People might just take some time to develop some of the missing pieces in their spare time and help you get done faster, not to mention the help with bugs that you mentioned on the news thingy. Can't wait to see how things turn out.
EDIT:
Oh, and holy crap. I just realized that like 2/3rds of the first page of the forum has my name as the last poster. xD

I am but a cockroach compared to the insanity of Zephyr.
And in no way am do I intend on rushin you on releasing earlier then you want.
I am, however, wondering why you enjoy the taste of torment.
(Did you say the 'super-pre-omega-release' was coming out sometime this week? Where will I find it when it comes out?)
I'm still waiting on that question about if their will be a hero character. When I say hero character I mean someone you embody more then other people, and when you order someone to do something, they think of their relationship with that character, and their moral code before they perform said order.

I'm undecided about having a designated "player" character. Maybe.
The demo will be released on the forums, anyone can download it.

I would advice to do so Chris, many gamers while playing a game identify themselfs with the main character (in case of modern games you ussualy create your own character).
I myself would find the game somewhat empty if it would miss a central character.
Also, having your own main character would make you feel the notion of death, and thus being more carring for yourself (while having non centraled char would make you somewhat less alert in battles, and feeling less tense)

In Mount & Blade I allways feel concerned for the life of my men, mostly because I think I will die without them.
But the reason I was asking about a central character isn't so I can relate. That might be interesting, but its that some of the things you said you wanted to do, woudln't really apply without it. Like if you ordered someone to kill a baby, and he said, "no F.ing way, thats cruel." He would say it to the guy that ordered him to. Also there could be a sort of chain reaction thing. You don't need to be friends with everyone in your group to get them to fight a battle. But if your good friends with one guy, and that guy is a friend with more guys, and those guys are friends with more guys, they are more likely to listn to you.
However my idea wouldn't apply if you can see and ontrol all your guys from everywhere, no matter where they are.

I think a lot of this boils down to getting that partial version out into the player's hands, so they know what they've been waiting for.
I have dozens of little questions about how the game's going to turn out, but answering them would likely lead to more and more questions. That's what I meant before by it becoming easier to come up with ideas, suggestions and feedback once we know what we're talking about.
