What about the catgirls, or Nekuman? You know, the race that was created in 2147 when the genetic manipulation techniques of Dr. Earnst Schrodinger became publicly available through Better Living Genetics Inc. Despite being publicly available, such procedures were extremely expensive, and likely to also be passed down to descendants, meaning only those of high monetary status could afford such procedures, and would result in their line being permanently (in lieu of further gene manipulation) altered to set them apart.

This resulted in being a Nekuman basically also being a ticket to upper social status. Eventually the social status of the Nekuman balanced back own to be on level with un-altered Humans, but not before several violent riots occurred in 2159 resulting in the hospitalization of 1262 and 78 deaths. In the aftermath of these riots the Nekuman were forced to reintegrate and desegregate themselves from normal human society.

Nekuman artwork therefor came to depict many themes, where Nekuman themselves where frequently depicted as being in a regal, yet confined status. Human artwork of Nekuman varied widely, as some held the Nekuman up, while others depicted them as ravenous beasts, feasting on the hearts of lesser beings.

Of course, the social differences between Humans and Nekuman was again reset when the apocalypse came and wiped out most civilization.

Yeah I'm not seeing it. There was nothing sexual or perverted in that description. Would you still call it perverted if I had instead replaced "catgirl" with "Vogon" (the aliens from Hitchhiker's Guide who have poetry so bad that it kills you)? The reason of that whole description was to give a cultural description which could be used to infer common artwork styles and themes. Just because someone says they like something, doesn't necessarily mean they like something sexually. And even if they do like something sexually, that doesn't make everything they say about something* sexual.

But regardless, I'm definitely looking forward to having female characters, I think t will massively help making my squad, and each squad member, unique.

Actually, I do think pretty much all kemonomimi (animal ears) are cute. Kemonomimi's real appeal is just how it helps bring out all of a character's charms and features. In most cases the sort of ear/tail is hand picked based on a character's personality. I just happen to think the cat variety is best. I'm having trouble imagining an otter girl though, that just seems a bit odd...

For reference, I wouldn't call kemonomimi furry, because they're still human, just with added ears/tail. Bronies on the other hand... yeah I know one of those too, and I make sure to point out how annoying it is that at least 1/3 of youtube videos have a brony video in the related links to him.
