I didn't read the whole discussion but I wanted to say to the OP that 4 years isn't even bad.

The First version of Unreal World was released in 1992. It has bigger crew working on it than Kenshi and I think Kenshi is much closer to final release than Unreal World.

It's still under development and half of the features are still missing. 21 years of active working on the game!!! And it's not dead. They might give news about progress many times a week.

Fun and interesting to play. Simple and complicated at the same time. :D

It has actually been in development for around 6 years (though not full time to start with i believe), but that's not much for a 1 guy game of this scope. The 2D RPG Inquisitor took 10 years to make and they had a team and you had to wait all those 10 years, no way to play an early alpha or anything.. Anyways, at least he's got a few more guys now, so it's gonna progress faster.

I would like to bring up the fact that minecraft is not finished, and i like that. I miss the old days of expansion packs, cds you bought in store that added levels/ hours of game play. Now everything is dlc hats that cost 3.99(+tax if your lawmakers are dicks). And the games take 4 hours to finish.

Unless there is going to be a lot more research, then i feel that the only thing that will hold the game back is exploration, or lack of places to explore. I do hope that the next map will be fog of war, and need to be explored. But this is just me. Otherwise the only flaw of concept that i am seeing is that i am running out of things to keep me occupied. Missions, a main quest, or the ability to conquer everything would fix this, but keep in mind that we are alpha .45 now, and there still is a lot to do.

Unreal world is a cool game. I haven't really played it much lately though. You go on their forums much santa?
