I just found this game and may I say that it is exactly what I have been looking for. Nothing has gotten me this excited since I first found that ever so under the radar yet fantastic "Mount & Blade". Since then I have been dissatisfied with games. Sure I find an interesting one here and there but nothing that really shakes up the formula like m&b. Kenshi is the answer, the amalgamation of what I want in a game, and what I have come to want in games since I have looked past blockbusters for the unsung heroes of pure game play.
Yes the game is in an early stage but that's what makes it all the more exciting. What will be the next update? How will he develop the game past what was promised? Its not setting my expectations to high, Its the love of the game past just playing it. The creation of something I love to spend the little hours between what work and life throws at me, that is what drives me to say this: Thank you for creating this game, thanks for the hours of enjoyment you've given me and all these other people, and keep trudging through development. People like me, which there are many on these forums, love the work you do and will continue to support your work and wish for your success.
Thank you very much.
Thank you

You hit the nail right on the head, mrsandman.
. In the 90s, when I played pc games they had a different feel to them, which seems to be lacking in many current games. The feeling was that the game you played was made by someone just like you. (Someone of the video game culture).
This picture describes what that feeling is. (If you want to, replace DF with whatever fits this category)

I have to say I've only been playing this game for about an hour and I already love it. It was a little difficult at 1st but the forums are great on here, and it's really cool how the actual developer responds to almost every post topic. I have to say Thank You for working on this game.
Dude I laughed pretty hard at that. Perfectly describes the crazy complex ridiculous awesomeness of dwarf fortress compared to games which are stuck in the casual/hardcore dichotomy. You have made my day.toaster Assassin wrote: This picture describes what that feeling is. (If you want to, replace DF with whatever fits this category)

Chris (for a one-man dev team) does a great job with relying info/ responding to forum users.
Badass indeed.

Just wanted to throw in my support as well. I got in under an indie promotion and if I had known Kenshi was such a great game, even in alpha, i would have purchased it alone for much more. The OP is totally right, Kenshi has a special sauce, hits a special spot, and reminds me of mount and blade. Its hard not to compare the two games. On the one hand i dont want to diminish the awesome that is Kenshi but on the other, I cant help but draw parallels between how much i enjoyed Warband and that same potential and fun (even in alpha, if a bit limited by comparison) that i've had with Kenshi. You're doing awesome work and I would love nothing more than to send you all the money in the world, if i had it, to help you develop this game. I can only hope that with the development of Kickstarter, in the next few years we'll start seeing developers get more hands off and fund projects like Kenshi.
Keep it up. Its fun to play. And you're right, games now seem to veer away for the involved "what-if" style that is SO fun to play.
Now if i could only get someone to mix something like the gameplay of STALKER with the world structure (size/scope) of Skrim [or the TES series] and involve the suspense and pull of a game where the objective is survival on limited resources and fighting to become self-sustaining as a core game, with more content on top, maybe even Warband style. [Like a DayZ for Arma 2, but with less PvP and more longer-term/late-game content - also, singleplayer as an option]

Hi Chris, Hi Kenshi players,
I buyed the game yesterday and had a lot of fun with it. I totally agree with the OP and the other guys. Today's games are all the same ; they forgot gameplay and fun to make good looking games. How lame.
Thank you for your great work, that's all I've been wanting for the past years !
I have a suggestion for you. I know that you've not even begun the artistic stuff but there is one thing that bothers me in the actual version of the game ; Ninjas in black. Yeah, traditionally, it's ok...
But they're supposed to be masters in camouflage !
I think you get the point xD
I like beginning as a rookie and beeing able to become a "God". That's a lot of fun being a one army man, even if it's not realistic.
Another point I really enjoy in the game ; the humor. Like the note "Kimono. Martial artists wear it because they're nuts". Good description x)
Also the interface is really intituive. Well I play Dwarf Fortress so I'm sort of "vaccinated" to bad interfaces, but yours is quite good, given that Kenshi is a deep game too.
Thank you for your great game. Keep on the good work !
PS ; I'm French. Do not hesitate to correct my mistakes.

Aww hell yes. Free reign.Rogdan wrote:

Kimono? Perhaps not. I think you mean the "Gi". It is the japanese word for a martial arts costume. A kimono is a silk dress that is tied with a large sash around the waist and is very tight to the body, but not form fitting. Mainly worn by women but there are male versions that look different and technically have different names although 'mens kimono' is acceptable too.Rogdan wrote: Like the note "Kimono. I'll be nice and stop here. the rest of your post was pretty good actually.

Well that would validate Rogdan's point, because you have to be crazy to wear a woman's silk kimono (and that sash is tied in a big bow) and fight hordes of bandits with your bare hands. Otherwise, I would have to agree with the Gi.
As for the ninjas, I thought they traditionally wore blue (Because black would create a silhouette in the shadows). However, those sand ninjas are very clever because they know that the last thing you would expect is a black robed ninja in the desert.(very clever)

Strange thing is, in France we all say "Kimono". I know it's a -insert insult here- country. But you're right, it's a Gi. No doubt here.
For Shinobis, black (or brown) and dark blue. Both are ok. I think. I wasn't there to tell you ! And that was only for their "spying at night" suit. For day time, they disguised and could play many roles. Well, depending on their school. Some of them even had engineer skills !
But anyway, black ninjas in the desert, under the sun is totally wrong x)
I would imagine ninjas in dark blue for night time, (here it's ok, depending on the moon and color of the sky at night... We don't even know if the game takes place on Earth. Maybe a post apo futur ? Or post apo anticipation ? I don't have a clue.) and hostile ninjas from other countries spying in allies towns by day, disguised in some guy, trying to get informations and/or assassinate someone. Like in Shogun 2 : Total War ! That would be cool.
But it would be a lot of work too, getting a AI ninja to actually act like a ninja. Maybe I could be a ninja myself ? Taking down hostiles, getting their gear, disguising like them and infiltrating their capital, then sabotage, assassinations and stuff ?
Chris, if you read this. Please tell us what you think ?

Well my friend then you will like this! Some of the features that are planned include a climbing skill and an assassination skill.
