Hey Mom,
It's been what? Two week since I was deployed? Things are different over here, I feel weak, not like at home in the city. These Shek ridicule me, but I try not to let it get under my skin. We are not far from Stack, and we are to attack a convoy in the morning, this is supposed to be important because the Cpt. has really put emphasis on not messing this up. Wish us all the best, I will send word with how things end up.
Love, T.
Hey Mom,
Things have been bad out here, I need to leave. I don't know if I can come home any time soon, the convoy we hit was much stronger than we expected, the Cpt. was cut clean in half and most of the troops panicked, I knew I shouldn't have but I hid, there was so much blood. So much death. The Shek managed to beat down their units, but their leader, he had this sword and even the Shek were unable to kill him. I watched as he and The Wall, our defensive Seargent, battled it out. He managed to knock the Paladin out, but I watched as he collapsed soon after. I tried to help him ma, I did. I grabbed the medkit they give us and I tried to stop the bleeding, but there was just too much. I did all I could and that's what matters right? But I found something, I think I can sell this sword for a load of cats and settle down somewhere off the map you know? I will write again soon ma, I promise. I just need to get out of The Hub.
T.
Ma, I went to the mountains, I had some trouble with the bandits but I managed to outrun them. I found these people though here, an order of ninjas. I have been training with them, I have learned so much, and this sword? I feel it will be worth more to me on my travels than as bargaining chip. I feel power again when I wield it, the other ninjas look at me when I train, and watch as I cut the dummies down from their posts. The leader proposed a trade for it, but I couldn't give it up, he challenged me and, well I got beat up pretty bad. I couldn't do much but flee into the mountains and while I must have lost them, I passed out from my injuries, when I awoke I sought shelter and found a waystation to rest in. The drifters were asking to join up with me, and I have little more than the shirt on my back. I don't trust them though, they all eye my sword and I don't know if I could trust them to have my back out there. I will travel alone for now, it's easier, faster, stealthier. I need to go though now mom, the light fades, and I need to eat, though I can't afford my tab. I don't want to speak of things I plan to do tonight, but I cannot return here. I am heading north.
Take care, T.
Dear Miss, [Redacted]
We are in contact to inform you that your son [Redacted] is in the custody of The Holy Empire, he is to be hung for his crimes against The Grand Holy Paladin at Dawn in three days time in the city of Stack. This letter has been sent with The Holy Courier to receive payment for his crimes due in one weeks time.
The fine will be 20,000 cats or the property owned by your family. Whichever you can procure; or your life.
With haste, Holy Paladin Danse.
P.S. [Scorchlander] Ma, I'm alright. I shouldn't have gone north but I have gone too far now to ever come home, I need to go West, or South. I found an Outpost, they welcomed me in all right, but it wasn't long before they attacked, I was knocked out pretty bad but when I came to I saw the Paladin was writing something. I was chained and I was scared, but I knew I would be dead if I didn't do something so I broke out. I attacked him when I got out, I didn't know what else to do, I got lucky though, he's in my cage shackled now. He was writing this to you when I broke out. I put on the Paladins gear and I have attached the Paladins coin purse with this note, flee mother, they will come for you. The Courier should give you no trouble, but please be careful.
I will find you again Mom, Love T.
The Lone Wanderer [Update 1]
Day 14,
I found this old book, I can't send letters to you anymore ma, I hope you're okay, but I don't know where you are. I feel I need to write things down, I made my way west, I ditched the gear, it was weighing me down and I needed to leave quickly. I found myself back at the Ninjas tower at night, I broke in and knocked out the leader while he slept, seems he taught me too well. I have stolen most of his garb and his mask. I made my way back towards the hub, but I couldn't help but stop at a nearby tower. I picked the lock and snuck in, found some bandits, but they seemed different, more appropriately dressed maybe? I looked around and found a stash of gear that I have been wearing with the ninja gear for a while. Before I left the big guy started to stir, so I knocked him out as well, stole his shoes, they're nice.
Day 16,
I made my way back to the Hub, I sold some things from the ninjas and bandits to the local Rebels, they will probably get more use out of it than I. I caught the eye of the local thieves guild as well, for a fee they offered sanctuary across the continent, I will have to think on that though, 10,000 cats is a hefty price to pay for little more than bed roll. Maybe there is something more I am not understanding. I spoke with one of the locals, he spoke of town in the North West, Mongrel he called it. A sanctuary for outlaws, it sounds perfect, I leave at dawn.
Day 19,
Mongrel was a disaster, I walked right into a death trap, the fogmen are at every turn and I can't seem to escape this bloody fog. I can't afford to eat so I have taken to petty crimes again, but the Shinobi thieves are here as well, and they have made an offer I don't think I can refuse. I am to steal from the local military their armor and weapons in exchange for the funds I need to eat and possibly hire my way out of here. The locals are mostly hopeless though, nobody who is already here wants to leave, and nobody else is coming any time soon. At least none that are likely to survive the fog.
Day 20,
I feel as though I spoke to soon! I made a deal with the thieves for membership, I have stolen some amazing armor, and I found a mask! It lets me see through the fog without suffering that often accompanies breathing it in! I will not likely return here, though first I must find my way out of, wherever here is.
Day 21,
I found myself South of the Fog, in a strange land, covered in strange trees and brush, the dirt looks like the rust you see on old tools. The creatures here are cruel, and large. Beak things are the bane of my existence and already I have staved off death twice. The locals are friendly, though they all look the same. The only difference being the traders, who look borderline human, like the shek but, creepier?
I need to pass through here quickly, these creatures and their hives are dangerous, I just don't know if they are to me.
Day 25,
I don't know if I have slept for near 3 days. I made the mistake of moving up the river where I found some bounty hunters, they spoke of a local legend and his horde of treasure, The Bugmaster they called him. Seems the bounty hunters all wanted a piece of the treasure but none dared enter his domain. I don't know what I was thinking, I snuck my way deep into the craterus land in search of the tower that was his throne. I found it atop a pinnacle overlooking the center lake, though I did not have much trouble getting there, I hadn't anticipated what I found. Spiders, huge ones, seemingly covered in a human like skin, and they're offspring? Little red ones, like demons they were. I fled at first, down the steps and into the open, out of the corridor space of his tower. I didn't see it but there were more at the bottom of the steps when I left, and before long I was fighting a battle on two front! My training payed off but not without a significant toll. I managed to subdue a group of them, which the others spiders promptly consumed while I fled. I found myself bleeding and broken behind the steps of the tower, hiding in near plain sight, though the only place I could find where I could safely rest. When I awoke I once again traversed the tower, only to find it empty. I climbed to the 2nd floor where I saw the chest of legend and I knew I had the luck of catching the king while he wasn't home. I knew I had to act fast so I quickly opened the chest.
It was not a chest of treasure though, it would seem that bounty hunters had been seeking the Bugmaster for some time, as the chest was near full to a spilling point with human teeth. I didn't know what to think of it, but I knew I couldn't dwell on it for long and promptly swept the rest of the tower for possible loot before fleeing into the night. I will never return to such a horrid place. The skin Spiders still haunt my waking mind.
From there I fled south where I stumbled across multiple ancient labratories and libraries. I have found texts and tools I don't know what to do with, but I think I know what I can do with the surplus of goods, I plan to go back north soon, East of the crater. It's time to find somewhere to setup a base to learn more about these ancient texts. Until then, I rest here on the outskirts of this locked city, when it opens in the morning I shall replenish my rations and make haste through the swamplands for a pocket valley I noticed resources in East of the Hive jungles.
Day 26,
These bastards! The sergeant planted it on me and then made ME out to be the criminal, I may have stolen in the past and there may be a bounty on my head. But I never did it out of spite or evil intent. Yet this man has the audacity to do this? I swear on my Mothers name I will be back for you snakes for proper revenge, but for now it is not the time. I have stolen the Cpt.'s sword as repayment for the sergeants actions. But I will expose him for the criminal he is, or force him to be the slave he should be. Mark my words.
Day 29,
The swamplands are a disgusting place, full of narcotics and scumbags. I watched a man be beaten to death over a small debt. The business sense of killing someone who owes you money astounds me. Still, these people are more honest and justified in their actions than the guard. I don't hold a grudge often but he will have to pay for what he did.
Day 31,
Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of you ma, things have really changed for me. I'm stronger now, I know how to fight. This sword is a gift from God, and whether the Holy Nations wants it or not I shall be a bringer of justice to these lands. I setup my base in the crater, just south of the "Great Fortress" as the Shek that inhabit it call it. Before long I will be ready, and all the lands shall know my name.
Terran, the Lone Wanderer.

Terran, the Lone Wanderer.
Day 60?
Honestly I don't know anymore, after I pillaged the old texts from the river lands in the South West, I set up base camp here, south of the "Great Fortress". I have built myself a small hut and a place to study these books, and as of yet what I have learned is astounding. I don't know if I can really go into detail about everything I learned in this journal, as my studies contain the majority of it, but there is certainly more to this world than what the Holy Nation would lead us to believe. From what I learned I have been able to setup automated mining systems to help me build my resources, and have been selling the excess to passing traders.
The texts spoke of a land in the North, past mongrel where I can learn more, and just East of those locations the passing tech hunters have talked about a place called Worlds End, the Machinists guild is located at the top of a mountain, and a man by the name of Finch may be able to shed light on this old book I can't seem to translate. I leave at dawn for Mongrel.
Day 62,
Mongrel feels different now, the Fog remains but the Fogmen aren't what I remember, they are weak and easily cut down, the city is different as well, there are fewer people since I was last here. I stopped in with the Shinobi ninjas to learn what I could about the lands to the North, they spoke of an ancient lab worth looking into and the eventual flood plains I would encounter. Further north I will have to cross Cannibal lands and have been cautioned about my path there. The Shinobi have truly been a blessing in my times of need, and I will support them as best I can, both now and in the future. I plan to leave tonight, under the cover of darkness I hope to avoid slaughtering more of these pathetic Fogmen.
Day 63,
I have come across an Old Skeleton named Burns, it would seem this machine used to be an adventurer for many years, it is an oddity though as it appears it's beginning to fall apart. Its CPU short circuits occasionally during stories of old journeys, I write this during a down time of processing. A quick study of its skeletal structure shows that many of the joints are rusted and would need complete replacement, the internal cooling structure is either completely broken or running at minimal efficiency. From what I can gather from Burns though, there is much I have yet to learn, and this old unit has lived possibly since the times of the ancients. I will try to repair some of the skeletal problems I remember from my texts, but I fear Burns time is short in this world. At the very least the stories I am told are elaborate and involved, with a plethora of information I can only hope to retain all of.
Burns is coming back online now, I head North through the cannibal lands tomorrow morning. Until then I shall learn what I can from these old tales.
Day 65?
Bloody Cannibals, Burns spoke of a ruin in the Southern edge of the valley that sounded just like an ancient lab, I knew I had to investigate and made my way there. I should have been more cautious but I found old texts that could help me in my research and I lost focus, while I climbed the lab to the 2nd floor I blacked out.
When I awoke it was dark, I was caged and bound, with no sword or armor, a faint smell of smoke and the putrid smell of burning flesh wafting up with the primal chants and drum beats of the floor below. I knew I was in trouble but it would seem to me that the fools were not very bright, as they had decided to create a fire inside the laboratory. I devised a plan given the circumstances and enacted what I could with haste. To begin with, I picked the shackles on my legs and opened the cage door without much issue. I then proceeded to close the upper windows I could reach to help trap more of the smoke within the lab. I gave it some time for the smoke to gather on this upper floor, and when I could barely stand or see what was around me, I pushed over one of the cages.
It was loud, and their chanting stopped. I heard some savage speak and the fumbling and scraping of metal on metal. Nearly a dozen of the savages wandered up to the top floor, speaking a quick and gruff basic speech to get their points across. I slipped by them easy enough in the smoke and made my way down to the 2nd floor. It was a sight to see for sure, the scrapped together fabrics that made makeshift beds gathered around a bonfire with a number of rolls occupied by cannibals made of skin and bone. One of them, I can only assume their leader, sat upon of throne of trash with my sword to his side and my hat on his head. A beast he was, only slightly fatter than the rest, but built like a Shek with his horns cut off. I made my way through the shadows to his backside and waited for the lackeys above to come running home to daddy below. When they returned to announced in their savage speak that I had escaped, the beast was not pleased but he abandoned his post and my sword to discipline the messenger. I took this time to strike.
In one swift movement I grabbed my sword and cleanly removed his head from his shoulders, the fear on their faces gave me confidence in my next action. This was to pound my chest like a gorillo and scream with all the force I could muster.
They fled quickly into the night and I retrieved my gear without too much trouble. They managed to ruin my hat though, with what smells like urine and the chiefs blood. I will rest here tonight; make my way further North tomorrow, more carefully than yesterday.
Day 66,
I passed through the Cannibal lands with some ease, and interesting point of note though was the same ones I had scared off the night previous I found dead on the road not far from the Lab. It would appear they were cut down some time last night and left to rot in the sun. It didn't look like it was other cannibals, and it certainly wasn't a wild animal. Nonetheless they are dead.
I have reached the first old library on my maps; I will sort through the damaged books tonight and explore points of interest with nearby ruins tomorrow.
Day 67,
I have struck the mother lode up here! Weapons and armor of the finest quality, a new side arm worth potential thousands of cats, a new helmet that looks like an advanced Samurai helm and armor plating not all unlike mercenary wear. I surely have the tools necessary to deal with any threat that comes my way now. Eight ruins in total up here, it certainly has been a productive day and tomorrow I will make haste to Worlds End. I can see the mountain in the distance.
Day 68,
Well I haven't made it to Worlds end yet, it is certainly close but I have found myself distracted.
When I made my way back across the plains the Cannibals generally avoided me and I was able to disable a few bands. When I reached the Eastern end of the Valley I saw some of them carrying off what appeared to be Shinobi Ninjas! I made haste and disabled the band pretty quick, I have attended to their wounds, but the patch they wear is unlike that of the Shinobi. I have setup camp with them tonight so that they may rest in peace, surprisingly there is not a man among them, and these women are dressed armed to the teeth. I have many questions for them, but I will have to wait for them to awake.
Day 69,
I am unsure I will be able to make it to worlds end any time soon, when the women awoke, they seemed surprised that I had neither eaten them, abandoned them, stolen from them, or that I was dressed as a warrior. I help splint up their wounded limbs and we made our way back to their camp. The Flotsam ninjas, they are a hidden among the shadows of Worlds End. They were certainly skeptical at first, but when I spoke of my hatred for the Holy Empire and my slaying of the Cannibals, they warmed up quickly. There is to be a feast tonight, and I have been promised certain amenities for rescuing their fellow clanswomen.
I feel as though I will enjoy my time here, and will make my way to Worlds end in a few days.
Day 84,
I am at the Worlds End Bar now; the people here are certainly different than those that live at the base of the mountain. There is an overwhelming amount of men, all with a focus on their next tech hunt and learning of the future, not only that but they scorn the thought of battle or feasts. Nothing like the Flotsam.
I will surely have to return to my new clan soon to partake in their festivities of hunting Cannibal Bastards by Day, and Celebrating life by night. My going away party was certainly enjoyable, and I spent most of day partaking in celebration before reaching this bar.
It's understandable why they are so warm towards me, with Cannibals to their West, unadventurous twats to their East, and terribly bland and stuck up Holy Nation to their South.
Anyway, I must rest my sore legs and tired hips, Finch will hopefully have answers for me tomorrow, but as far as I can tell from these Tech Hunters he can be a bit withholding of information. Only willing to give something of equal value to what he can get.
Still, I can only hope he will have answers to this old text.
Day 85,
Well Finch is a complete twat as well, asocial and unwilling to share. He was so interested in what I had to offer yet wasn't willing to help me understand for myself, he simply was willing to trade it for some Blueprints he had wrote up himself. I told him to stick it up his ass and honestly he looked like he considered doing it for my book.
I was walking out the door when his assistant Iyo offered an alternative. Phoenix has something he desperately wants, and is willing to trade anything for. But because he mainly employs self-righteous weaklings like himself he fears he will never acquire it. So Iyo proposed I retrieved that old text I could more easily bargain for the information retained within this old text. Tomorrow I will make my way to Blister hill. I don't know how but I will have to get that artifact or risk never understanding the importance of this book. I know it holds meaning, I know it hold value. I just don't know what.
I will stop off and spend the night with my Clan before I make my way further south.
After all, with where I am going this may be my last chance to see them for a while.
Honestly I don't know anymore, after I pillaged the old texts from the river lands in the South West, I set up base camp here, south of the "Great Fortress". I have built myself a small hut and a place to study these books, and as of yet what I have learned is astounding.
