A new threat...

So, I was looking at the page for scythe, and I saw the wooden ragdoll guy on the 'features' page, which gave me an idea for Kenshi. I was thinking about how you have a point where a bit of a zombie infestation starting up and I thought about another threat that might make for an interseting scenario: golems. Basically elementals of stone, wood and earth which slowly rampage across the land, creating new golems from destroyed structures and objects (like trees, boulders, etc). So, as they destroy, they also grow in numbers. If the situation were set up so that a sufficient force could keep pushing them back, but they still keep hitting it hard, then that would provide an interesting setup for the player to come in and tip the scales either way he so chooses, should he be strong enough to tip them far enough to fall.

Just thought it might make for an interesting scenario. Or perhaps get the golems fighting the zombies. XD

Ah...you spoke of 'monsters' in the world, so I wasn't sure just how much you were getting into the mythical beings. I knew you weren't planning to have any kind of spellcasting, but wasn't sure about beings that stretch the realm of fiction. The thought just popped into my head and figured I'd post it.

Also may be a pain for him getting animations for golems and zombies...

Zombies are easy, you just look for animations named "drunk man walking".

When I say monsters I really mean big-ass dangerous wildlife. Not real-world or fantasy, but in between. Like the mammal equivalent of dinosaurs or something, its not an unrealistic thing to exist. I just don't want humans to be at the top of the food chain.

Wouldn't humans return to the top of the food chain with their technology? (Swords, bows) Hunt the mammothsaurosrex and feat it to a starving village?

Yeah, and then while they are strutting about all proud of how they just ate a mammosaurus rex, their entire hunting party gets swallowed whole by a landwhaleshark. You can fight back but it doesn't change that they breed like rabbits and like to eat humans.

Lol, you have got to have a landwhaleshark in this game. Have it attack a village or something. Seriously, I think I'd die laughing if I was just chilling in a village then suddenly one of the lookouts in the nearby tower screams, "LANDWHALESHARK COMING FROM THE NORTH!!!"

But ya, mammoths, sabertooth tigers and other things like that would be pretty awesome to see. Perhaps even a few giant beatles and things like that. I think it'd be really awesome to have a swarm of giant hornets overrun a town. I'd probably head for the nearest hole and bury myself in it. xD

Mammoths wouldn't work in their original form in a desert.

Lol, what about throwing in some ligers or tigons in there? Could be fun to have a pack of those unleashed on some poor, unsuspecting village. >:D

If you're trying to make it not be fantastical you'd probably have to kill off most of the large creatures before hand. That's what humans do. They see something big and not afraid of them and they hunt it to extinction. It's happened in pretty much every area of the world besides Africa, and that's only because the animals evolved in contact with humans and knew to GTFO when they came by.

Landwhaleshark is fantasy. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yes, I think we're all aware that landsharks are fantasy. :P

Hm...what if the landsharks got infected by the zombies? o.o

Realism and fantasy have no place in my calculations. If I think zombie-landwhalesharks would be fun, I put them in. And then I don't after all because I don't have any zombielandwhaleshark models, but thats a different issue.

Believability is still a factor, but unlike most people I find landwhalesharks more believable than magic spells.

Chris, you continue to awe us with your awesome.

Personally, I think something that might be interesting is making 'official mods'. Basically, if there's any argument over whether or not something should be in the game, put it in the official mods list. It's like user mods, but they're made by you. Then, people can choose to have it in the game or not. Or you could just tell the people who think landwhalesharks are dumb that they're idiots (since they'd obviously be made of pure awesome).

Anyway, I've just slept for the past 16 hours for no apparent reason and my brain feels like it's fried, so I'm rambling and such. *giggles maniacally*
