Hello fellow forum dwellers, I am currently trying to find new challenges to keep the game interesting. My current game I started as a roaming band of thieves and thugs, and while it has been decent fun I'm starting to get annoyed by how micro-managey the game gets when you make food without access to containers.
So, I am gonna have my current band settle down and hire themselves a couple farmers, turning from their vagabond lifestyle of harassing the holy lands and beating up slavers, into a life of contributing to their community by making delicious foods and killing any fool who dares getting into their way.
I have been looking around a bit, but I am a bit too impatient to find spots I really like, so I thought I'd ask the community and see what you nice fellas got available.
Good farming is important, metals is nice but not a must-have. Flat, I want it flat and smooth.
Looking for a dangerous, flat area to put my base in

holy nation has good land, with mostly flat spots around though you won't get a perfectly flat spot anywhere.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable
Current computer specs.
AMD FX-8150 - Eight Core, 3.60GHz
NVidia GTX 1050TI

Yeah, HN might fit the bill. I haven't found any spot where the flat land and the iron/copper is close 'nuff but I probably haven't looked very hard. I'm assuming you mean by the river? and not up in the mountains. There is a lake I've wanted to build by but once again not great spots. Also, any areas where several enemies intersect? Would be nice if you could get some HN/Slavers/Cannibals/Satan's Aunt action all in the same party spot.
And yeah, not expecting it to be perfectly flat. Just most of my bases have been lumpy and awful, with towers leaning in all directions and farmland uphill both ways.
I'll walk over and poke around a bit more in HN country right now, see what I can find. I need to hunt inquisitors anyhow.

Some of the coastal areas in the far north are flat and have access to iron, copper, and high fertility. I also like having a base next to the ocean. Lots of cannibal raids as well. If they're too weak, you could set up a base in Leviathan territory.
I actually have a base in that area on another save, quit it due to framerate getting kinda shitty. I was just by a cannibal village, had good resources and fertility but the area was a mess of hills. I would recommend it for others, as long as you have enough people to beat back the cannibals it proves for a decent area to live in.
I've currently settled in HN lands, not sure if I'll stay. I might just do a tech run to get hydro and look to set up base in an infertile area. Could be nice.

Also found some interesting base locations in Shun. Some areas are fertile there and copper is available, although I'm not sure about iron. Lots of skin spiders to fight, big packs of garrus and goats are around as well. Set up an outpost to raid nearby ruins and bringing food wasn't necessary because of all the wildlife. Wind power also works in Shun and wasn't as reliable in the cannibal areas. Shun also has lots of hills, though. Another interesting spot for a base would be the Crater. Not sure if wind power is available there, it probably isn't, but there would be lots of beak things to fight. Vain would be interesting for the same reason, I've set up bases on the edges of Vain but avoided placing the main base there because of the beak things and gorillos.
The crater was a nice idea, I love taking newbies there with a more skilled character to get them into fighting shape. Not much flat terrain from what I remember though. Not too fond of wind power myself, feels unreliable. Beak things might turn boring to fight in the long run though.
I'll scout out shun and vain I think, I'm not terrible fond of spiders as the fights are so short. But the new fluid-drain mechanic might make it interesting for a wihle atleast. Also harpooning the little creepers might be good times.

Another interesting spot for a base would be Berserker Territory. Just sent a squad there and it's very dangerous, large packs of berserkers and cannibals fighting each other all over the place. Also saw a pack of wild cattle and a pack of garru so food is available. The beach area had some flat spots, wasn't able to explore the whole area because there were too many berserkers running around. The packs were much larger than the berserker packs in the Stenn Desert and there don't seem to be any friendly outposts nearby. Camping in Purple Sands seemed relatively safe though.

I always enjoyed the valley in Hiver territory for this reason. If memory serves correct, there''s a nice flat area around what I suppose is an ephemeral pond in the riverbed. It's right between two of the easternmost Hiver villages, I believe between the second and third from the East. I get regular gutters and gorillos to play with there, and lots of fun havoc to be had nearby.
The Berserker Territory's on the northwest coast. I think the neighboring areas were the Iron Trail to the north, Purple Sands to the east, and Shrieking Forest to the south. Raptor Island might be nearby as well, haven't seen that yet. Think the Iron Trail had iron, copper, and fertility. The Leviathan Coast area further north also had every resource and a ruined outpost full of construction materials. Mongrel might be the closest city with construction supplies, the iron spiders can also be harvested for construction materials.
