Hive Noble/Highborn Rather than Prince?

I don't know why, but this has been bugging me; I feel like the Hive Prince should be called Highborn or Noble as opposed to Prince.

There are too many Princes running around and feel like the lore would suit better with their being a complete upper class for Hives that serve the queen by leading workers and soldiers etc, with their own internal politics and feuds. Naming them as Highborn or Nobles feels like they would be more of a common site than prince and also give their sex ambiguity.

Potentially a Highborn or noble could birth a Queen when the time comes etc?

Also, why do Hivers have the ability to eat raw meats when they are supposed to be vegetarian? Shouldn't they be capable of eating unprocessed raw cacti etc as a suitable food source instead?

Basically, you've just described a prince, but for some reason renamed him IRL, there could've been dozens of princes, and considreing Hivers' insect-like nature, no suprise they are quantilions.

Also, the lore on Hivers might be an interesting stuff for you to read You can find it in the devblog somewhere.

I agree they should be able to consume raw veggies, although this would probably break food production some in early stages.

Yeah... I knew saying this was trivial in reality. There is just something about the word "prince" that irks me. I figured I'd wait until the game got to v1 or so to look at modding it to fix that for myself, but just wanted to see if anyone out there had a similar... weirdness with this as I do.

I am hoping there will be more Hiver content in the last region of the map to sink into. But for now will just wait it out. I guess I just feel weird having like 6+ Princes in my free Hiver nation

Very well might be, it's a vast area, and i distinctly remember reading about agressive Southern Hive, so maybe they will be there.

To mod them though should be as easy as simply renaming them in the FCS and that's all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Hive Princes are not called such because of some social class, just a designation of the subspecies based on their function in the hive. Sure sounds better than Hive Bureaucrats or Hive Administrators.

As for them "birthing" a queen, have you seen the queen? There's something quite peculiar about her if you take a good look. I'm interested in any lore concerning it, but I haven't stumbled upon it yet.

I have seen the queen, I didn't actually mean that ingame you could birth a queen. I just meant from a lore perspective; If a queen were to die, then the nobles would come together to ascend a new queen haha.

I don't know, I just felt having multiple Princes in a squad would lead to rivalry. As opposed to a class system of nobles etc that see themselves above the lower classes, but on the same page generally as each other.

We v1 comes out I will spend some time changing all this for myself haha!
