Hello everyone!
I just discovored Kenshi on Steam Greenlight and the demo download isnt finished yet and I already want to buy it.
But one question come to my mind. If I buy it now on Desura, will it be possible to have it for free on Steam once it is released?
And if I buy the game now?

As long as there are no technical problems preventing it, yes.

I am really on the edge of buying this, as it's already well made and only $10
However i'd hate to see that $10 go to waste if it doesn't go on steam and the game eventually gets dropped.

I hope so. Some members have invested quite a bit of money; I think one guy put in $2000.
You should also be able to buy off the kenshi website directly. This can be put into steam as a 3rd party piece of software. Best part is, Kenshi has a built in auto updater so you don't need to worry about using the desura version if its the updates you are worried about.

There really isn't any telling after all this isn't some huge development team we're talking about and some of these advances are going to cost money that can only be facilitated by sales.

A few years I think. Speed will also depend on money. But the game will certainly be finished, its my entire financial future after all. Its finishing this or working in mcDonalds, there is no logical reason for me to not finish the game. Unless I die I suppose.
As for steam, I don't know how their keys and stuff work. Hopefully they can use my current system to validate keys, then everythings ok, everyone can use steam.
Desura is an example, they don't have the key-validation system built in, I just pre-generated 10,000 keys and sent them to desura. So desura just validates them by comparing to the list. Buy the game off my website however, and the key is generated on the fly. Thats why you cant use the keys on desura.
But steam's a big thing, and most likely has a million different key/drm solutions that it can handle, i doubt it will be a problem.

When the game is eventually finished, I'll probably price it around £20-25 (about $30-40).
