My modded game has become extremely unstable and crashes every 5-10 minutes. Probabaly my fault. How can I fix it?

The game used to run super smoothly and I'd rarely get an crashes (except the crash on exiting but that doesn't matter) but now it's as unstable as America. It crashes often when I save, when I focus on a different character, when a interior is loading in etc. My laptop is relatively beastly and could handle the highest settings for the longest time. I reckon it must be my audacious mod list that's causing it but I didn't think any of the mod I have where incompatible and I read that Kenshi doesn't have a mod limit. I have made my own edits in FCS on some of these mods but I didn't make any drastic changes and I only edited the relatively small mods. I'm using KenshiModTool.exe and normally let it decide the load order then do some moving of stuff around when I check some things out In game.

If anyone knows if any of the mods below are incompatible or if the load order is wrong please let me know.

Hey there, in case you come back or anyone else reads this topic with the same question: this advice is generally a good idea for troubleshooting any modded game.

First, make a copy of your saves somewhere safe, as loading a game without mods it's expecting can and will cause problems too.

Disable half of your mods. Play game. No issues? Trouble mod(s) are not in that half. Switch to other half of mods and repeat.

Play game again. Still no trouble? You likely have a conflict between something in first half and second half. In this case, your only real thorough option is to enable a tiny handful of mods at a time, going down the list, and start a new game . No trouble? Turn those off, enable next handful of mods.

If you have the crash / FPS drop when using "half my mods" step, good! Issue is in this half. Note what they are. Turn half of THEM off, repeat test.

In this way you can usually zero in on the problem child without loading literally each mod alone.

When you have a small list of suspects, enable everything except that mod / those mods, play game. No trouble? You've probably found the culprit(s).

Advanced step: open suspect mod in FCS, and look at the top for the "changes" button. Review the changes that mod makes, see if anything stands out as something that shouldn't be changed, or a value way out of whack, or similar.

Next steps would depend on what you discover during these steps, but this is always a good way to start mod troubleshooting in general.

HTH!
