Hello all,

I have been playing for a few weeks now and loving it. The one thorn in my side has been these mooches from the Shek Empire that consistently show up at my gates bumming food. They take every piece of food I have, so I constantly have to load all my food onto the pack animals, deactivate my cook, empty the bread baskets and the oven, just to keep these thugs from cleaning me out.

Then I came across the Broken Ones robot horde and have noticed their behavior. They attack anyone that isn't part of my faction, and this doesn't seem to have any effect on faction relations with the victims. This got me wondering, if I put this robot horde at my gate and let them beat down the food bums next time they show up, then lock them in cages so they can't return, will this end the issue or will another group show up? Has anyone tried this? I don't want to risk getting a war started just yet, but these mooches have got to go.

I mean, sure it would technically work. But one of two things would happen.

1. If you wiped them out after the dialog, then it will simply allow you to retake the food stolen. The next raid will still come, since it triggers off the dialog.

2. If you wiped them out before the dialog where you give them the food, this would trigger a retaliation raid against you most likely. Because the raid has a loss trigger for if they don't get the food. Though maybe not. There were some changes years back that stopped it form triggering retaliations if the raiders were defeated by someone else on their way to you. Unsure which way it would go since these skeletons are not technically you.

The mooches are coming because you built your base in Shek territory. They will not stop coming until you move. And not allowing them in will cause relations with the Shek to deteriorate until you are at war with them. So, you really have 3 choices. stock enough food near the gate to fill their packs and keep yours hidden in the back. Armor up your front door for war or move.
I did the first two for a while, then picked the latter. Shem is beautiful this time of year. but the shek still send raids to my door because of past grievances. And nothing short of the bug masters head will change that now.

I have a base where I use the broken ones as security. They are keyed off which ever character the bonded too when you met them. So, I put a sitting box near the gate and have that character tasked to sit there. When there is no combat the thralls will follow him there and stand around him while they wait. As soon as the gates are threatened, I send him to stand near the gates and the goon squad follows. Also need to make that character good at robotics so you can repair the thralls.
