Lo-Fi Games

hey all,

Saw the trailer on steam greenlight and thought awesome it looks like a M & B type rpg. Instantly bought it.

I'm kinda enjoying it, i know its in development so its not perfect. However there are a few things that i want to understand..

1. Is there sound in this game? unless i missed it i couldn't find any audio options nor anything in patch notes saying there is none.

2. Are there any noobie guides to understand simple things you can do? i saw the in-game help but wanted more in depth descriptions. I understand and read that there is a Wiki, but are there any reputable Youtube vids that people can direct me to?

3. As i get slaughtered early on in the game against bandits, to raise money trading would be smart. However if i buy say 5 lots of building material, it doesn't stack, so it takes x amount of space in my inventory. Then when want to sell it, i have to make physical room in the vendors inventory.
Is there an option to stack material and if so how?
Also what is the best way to make money? (i have been looting dead raiders of their swords and selling them so far)

4. What is the best way to train combat skills? The dummy's take some time to get skills up, and unless i save enough to get 5+ men, 3 raiders are very hard to beat.
what i have been doing is luring raiders to the guards of towns and joining in. But seems to be slow in getting my skills up.

5. Can i confirm that i cant assign points to stats but they build up on their own by using a weapon or a skill? i dont want to miss something small like that which can hinder my gameplay.

6. I have noticed some towns like brink, has no one there. Ghost town. I didn't notice this when i first started as i didn't know what to expect. I have also noticed in other towns that police stations or other buildings are empty, is this normal at this stage?

7. At what stage should i be building towns myself? when i first get a chance or when i know i am skillful enough to defend it? Also do you get good income from this? (that's what im struggling with at the mo, played for a bit got 6 people and about 4k gold/credits/shiney coins what ever its called)

Sorry for the amount of questions but i love sandbox games since SWG-preCU and this seems promising.

3. The larger backpacks allow for item stacking and vendors should be able to stack in their own inventories as well. Vendor inventories also reset after awhile of gameplay. I can't remember if it's like 5 minutes or 20. Best way to make money is to find two towns that sell things at cheaper than 100% market value. Go from one city to the other trading any resources the other city values. The shorter the trip the better but payouts can be pretty damn good. You'll also raise your strength scow pretty high carrying around all those supplies though you'll move slow to start with.

4. Try and meet some starving bandits and put yourself into defensive mode. Your guy with sit back and block with a huge bonus. This is still dangerous however as you can still be hit and their attack will train faster than your defense. But once your defense is good you can stand up to them long enough to start swinging back and your attack will go up.

5. That is the case. You make yourself not experience points.

6. That might be a bug those shouldn't be empty. There is the rare case everyone went chasing some bandit or died but that seems unlikely.

7. At the moment you don't get an income from bases so they're pretty much a resource dump. I'd wait to build your skills up some more before starting. No one is going to intentionally come and wreck your crap yet but they might wander along and wreck you.
It's very expensive with even cheaper buildings costing in the thousands.

Kamos pretty much answered everything I thought the ghost town bug was fixed, perhaps not totally? xD and the money in game is called cats

Thanks I read the questions and answers and answered quite a few of my questions i myself is new too i just bought it a couple days ago i played the demo awhile back and enjoyed it but just now bought it and am in heaven I can't wait until we get sound in the game which i know will probably be awhile but I still can't wait ( I can deal with listening to music while playing for now ) thank you. btw my first post.

The ghost town was the pre-update bug, i didn't import the characters and its fixed now

And thanks to you iv worked out the stacking items and its made it alot easier to transport.

I can enjoy the game that little bit more now cheers!

Early Skill Training- The training dummy in towns only trains your attack skill (and only up to 10). If you are patient you can start training, toggle the 3x timescale and AFK or alt-tab to do something else to grind your attack up. This is worth doing for unskilled recruits also.

I don't think I ever use the defensive posture (for training or in actual fights) as it simply guarantees you will lose the fight since you never attack. Just fight starving bandits until you win or lose (or lure them to a city gate).

An extra (post) combat tip is to train all team members evenly in first aid. I do this by pairing up characters to heal each other. This way all of them are competent, which speeds the patching up process and is better than waiting for your one good medic to patch everyone else up.

If your whole party is defensive then yes, you will lose. But in very close fights when you have multiple people, using the defensive can keep some of your guys alive long enough for the others to win their mini fights and come over and join you. Can also be useful if one character has taken a lot of damage quickly through unlucky hits and you want to keep him standing.

Also, it is tricky but, if someone is defensive and someone else attacks from behind then the AI will sometimes ignore the passive guy and change target to the active guy. This give you a chance to switch around. The idea being that, combined, your guys will last longer and can take out a stronger guy (and with less damage sustained) that they would't be able to normally.
