Hello everyone, over the past few days I have been writing a steam guide about a play style I decided to try after the first time I played through Kenshi (Got a squad of 20, had a booming town and a lot of warriors but wanted to try something new essentially). Basically the idea is playing Kenshi with a single character in your squad with the only focus being to be the greatest most bad ass warrior to ever live! I just wanted to share the guide with you guys on the forum not necessarily to advertise it but because I feel like I really need to edit a few details and make a few things more concise. I feel that in order to do this I should probably try to attract more veteran players that may be lurking around on the forum and see what sort of constructive criticism or ideas you guys may have to offer. Anyway I hope by doing this I get a few more people that would like to contribute to the guide or inspire some people to try the play style and maybe be genuinely entertained by it.
Check out the guide at: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =137989312
Enjoy and thank you in advance!
How To Play Kenshi "Hardcore"
Well, I have also already played a one-man-game.
And I must say "Nice Work" you pretty much covered everything.
So as requested here some constructive criticism:
1. The whole guide is pretty long, while you give the necessary information almost always in the first sentence. A short summary / table of contents would be nice!
Like this:
The Two Main Rules
1. You cannot recruit other characters into your squad.
2. You can only save in towns.
Basic Survival Techniques (Early Game)
Strategy 1: Bandit Fishing
Strategy 2: .......
2. Money
The easiest way to make money is to loot and sell weapons - and weapons only!
Don't bother with anything else - it will only slow the process!
3. Early Game
A - Lure bandits towards a city and loot them after the city guard killed them!
B - Buy a house and put a research bench in it -> research: bed / storage box / training dummy lvl 2
C - optional to the training dummy you can also fight with the city guard to train
!! - Important -> if one of your legs gets hit -> GET THE HELL OUT -> you may have noticed that enemies like to hit the same spot over and over again and if one of your legs is gone its game over.
4. Training
Medic
- if you want to make the game easier and learn some medic skill -> you can improve your faction status by healing fallen by Bandits and Ninjas
- stopping the bleeding is enough - for medic skill you may heal more
- also healing more than one bandit / ninja is useless - you need to wait a while before you get another bonus to the faction status
- in the beginning you will get +3 for one heal than +2 and later only +1, depending on how close to 0 faction status you are
- by a faction status from => -9 bandits and ninjas are neutral to you
-> if you only leave one faction as your enemy you can even fight with dust bandits against ninjas
or even the empire ^^
Strength
- it improves faster if you carry more
-> if you start the "survival"-game you can carry your 2. man
-> a carried person weight 8 kg + what he carries
-> so you get maximum effect with both men carrying backpacks full with stacked swords
BTW - if you have a stack in your backpack and lift it through putting something else in the same place -> you can sell it in stacked form
5. Equipment
- well nothing much to say
-> I would always choose a dexterity weapon - since you can't train this skill otherwise and only switch during the "end-game"
my favorite outfit is:
black ninja mask
red empire sergeant coat
mail shirt
armored /plated pants
sandals
heavy weapon in first hand
straight katana in second hand
as for the backpack I use the the big trader backpack
BTW - if you are "weightless" you get NO fighting penalty even with the trader backpacks
Well that's all I could think of on the spot
And I must say "Nice Work" you pretty much covered everything.

Thanks Beckz, that's a lot of good criticism that I'll definitely consider the next time I edit the guide. I think I said somewhere in the comments that I've always had trouble keeping my thoughts concise at least the first time around so I am definitely thinking about having a summary section for each part of the guide while retaining the detailed sections. The table of contents idea sounds great and will definitely be added when I take the time to edit and add to the guide later on in the weekend.Beckz wrote:Well, I have also already played a one-man-game.

Just to summarize the idea I had for the equipment/weapons section of the guide was that the "best" weapon really comes down to each personal strength and drawback of each weapon class and the weapon type under that class combined with the personal preference of the player. So if Hacker class weapons work best for you and your preference then yes they are better than Heavy weapons.Smiley wrote:Ill post a reply here. Isnt the best weapon in game the most balanced 1?
And that wouldnt be a heavy weapon. I prefer a hacker over a heavy weapon anytime.
But this might be personal preference.
Keep the constructive criticism coming everyone, I hope those who choose to read the guide enjoy it and or it is helpful. Also I am looking for ideas for possible challenges to add to the end-game portion which I plan on updating over time. I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone that has read the guide or contributed so far, I look forward to updating and refining the guide so that it is accurate, helpful and enjoyable for all who choose to read it.
