will kenshi be downloaded all in one go, or need internet to constantly get updates [examples: retrieve data for parts of maps, towns, etc]?

or will it be browser based? and obvislously need internet.

will there be LOAD SCREENS? or can we go from desert to town to store with none?

Also: have you thought of using autodesk products to help make designing easier?

I don't think I know of any games that need the internet constantly to get map data, except for Online Multiplayer games (which Kenshi isn't). If, and I say if, it needs constant internet connection, that would most likely be as a form of DRM (the worst kind).

Browser based? Nope, as already stated, this isn't a multiplayer game, and it's a bit to big to play over the internet.

About the loading screens, every game has them on startup, ever seen a game that never had to load? Although I suppose you what you meant were loading screens like in Oblivion (and Morrowind), where towns, the outside world and inside locations where located in seperate cells and thus there had to be a loading transition whenever you switched between them.
From what I (and you) can see from the trailer footage, this does not seem to be the case, as the character move between these locations very fluently. Though I suppose there might be a bit of loading when using Fast Travel options, as that would require the game to load a huge chunk of art assets and data in one go, as opposed to gradually loading things that are just outside your range of vision.

Of course I might be wrong, so if anyone has more information, feel free to correct me.

Technically Morrowind only had loading screens going from indoors to outdoors. Oblivion was the only one that had the cities all as walled in separate cells, and that was due to the game being designed for the X-Box 360's hardware limitations. Course it also gave them a great excuse to completely remove flight from the game and thus not have to take that into account in their level designs.

If it's anything like the alpha versions there won't be any load screens between the world and the cities and the buildings. Presumably, everything streams in to memory as it's needed. There will probably be loading screens for fast travel though, like you said.

Is the game first going to be activated and updated like Minecraft or a demo file and serial key?

You played the alpha version (old demo)? If you still have it, would you mind uploading the demo (doesn't matter where, tpb/rapidshare/mageupload/etc.)? Chris said (in another thread) that he wouldn't mind, but couldn't do it himself because he lost the files.
Chris_The_Great wrote: Exactly. Plus I no longer actually have a copy of the old demo or the zips. If anyone still has them and wants to make them public or torrented I wont complain, but I'm too busy to do it myself. Working on the big bad new demo.
(emphasis mine)

I really really want to play this.

I might still have it for all I know, but it'd be a huge pain to find. I don't even remember the names of the files.

I found the extracted files. I suppose I could put them in an archive. I don't have any accounts on any upload services though.

I don't generally upload files and thus don't really have the means or knowledge to do so. I also don't really feel like going to the trouble of figuring it all out. If someone really wants it and is willing to make it easier for me then I might consider it.

It might not be a good idea at this point. I don't want people to find it and think a 2 year old tech demo is the first release, and start screaming "OMG it sucks!".

Well sorry guys, if Chris doesn't want me uploading it then I'm going to respect his wishes. Makes things easier for me too.

Ah well, I suppose we'll have to wait for the official release. Now I only need to find some time-sink to make the weeks go by faster.
