Just found about Kenshi whilst websurfing and following a link from an indy games site. I have to say, for a solo effort this is looking amazing and it looks & sounds like you've got some great ideas.
As a guy who programs donate-ware apps atm (moving from the UK to Canada and can't work until my visa comes though) - shan't post my url as I don't want to spam - what you've pulled off is a huge feat, and pretty much unheard of these days. Personally speaking I wouldn't even know where to start with a project like this either!
You'll be getting my cash asap - I look forward to having a play, but even if a demo didn't come with the payment you'd still get some money for having the balls to attempt something like this (and doing so well with it)!
As you're an X-Com fan (isn't everyone who did PC games back in the 90's?) have you seen Xenonauts (http://www.xenonauts.com/)? (I'm not involved with the project). Actually, don't take a look - you probably don't need another time sink atm!
I've got a few ideas about features (doesn't everyone) & possibly improving performance, but I'll keep them to myself until I've played with the actual product.
