Lo-Fi Games

I have two computers, one is high end, so I'm not worried about that one with regards to if it can run, the only problem is that one overheats in 30 minutes,

the other one is fairly ancient, but is reliable.

Simply download the demo off the front page, that will give you a far better idea of how well it runs on your low end machine than a spec sheet.

Some tips for making it run better if your machine is lower end:
1. Run in full screen mode. Windowed mode, while smaller, actually requires more system resources.
2. Turn vsync on. This will prevent your system from trying to process too many frames.
3. Turn shadow resolution down, or shadows off entirely. The shadows are currently the biggest GPU hog in the game at high settings.
4. Toy around with view distances. Tbh, there's not too much to see in the distance right now anyway. Once you learn some of the basic geography of the region, you'll probably be able to navigate by just the outlines of the mountains.

Minimum:

- Windows (i know XP works, anything older than that i can't tell)
- Dual-Core CPU
- About 1,5-2 GB RAM (this works well enough depending on whatelse you are doing on your PC)
- GPU capable of Pixel shader 3.0 and DirectX 9.0c

If it's overheating try replacing the thermal paste on the video card and cpu. If you aren't computer savvy then take it to a repair shop or a friend who knows how.

Can someone explain to me what the difference between "use system minimum memory" and "auto hardware buffers management"is?
My guess is that the latter allow my comp to use more RAM?

Seems like a reasonable assumption Sumo0, although I turned it on to auto and have never run with the minimum memory setting so I can't speak toward performance gains.
