Hello everyone,

I've spoken with some of you back and forth via these forums, but if we've yet to e-meet then "Hello!" As most of you have probably seen in the latest update, Chris has been very busy as of late... one of those things was talking with me about the Audio for "Kenshi."

I'm really excited to start working on the Music/Sound for "Kenshi" & look forward to sharing it with all of you. In fact, I'd like to share a bit of the process "behind the scenes" as I'm creating the Audio for "Kenshi." All of the big Updates with info on what Audio will be in the latest build will still come from Chris, but if you're interested in hearing my ramblings on how we're going to create the "Aural World" of this game we love, then I invite you to check out a few things.

For quick updates I'll be using Twitter: https://twitter.com/KoleMusician

For a bit longer updates I'll be using my Blog: http://kolemusician.com/blog/

I'll still "lurk" around the forums from time to time & answer questions when I have some free time though. Thanks for reading & I hope the audio we create for "Kenshi" is as pleasing to your ears as it is ours!

Best,

Kole Hicks

Sweet. Thanks for keeping us informed. Even though I've just gotten the game, I suppose I 've grown used to the lack of audio. With that said, the game definitely lacks a sense of life. Hopefully, your work will help remedy that. Good luck!

Hi! Nice to have you on board!

Just curios... Are you the one making the sound effects or the ambient sounds or both? If you do both, which one will be added/made first?

I believe the normal sound effects, sword slashes, doors shutting etc. would be easier to start with but I would really want the ambient sounds added fast. It's just so quite to play... It doesn't feel right...

I'll be taking care of everything. Music, SFX (Ambient, Foley, etc.), and potentially even VO. As for what will be made first...

Disclaimer: Still not sure what Audio we'll implement in-game first though.

I really liked the preview/demo sounds!!

Can't bloody wait to see :o

One thing I'd like is some kind of warning sound whenever some of your character/companions are under attack (started thinking about age of empires bell lol).

P.S. Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked the demo! Good idea about the warning sound too, I'll talk to Chris about that.

Hey Kole

Great work with the demo you probably get that a lot but honestly good job with it, the sound give a more immersive affect to the game.

I just can't wait till this is in the game but until then will just have to imagine there's sound in the game or just play random songs in itunes lol.

Anyways keep up the good work.
Weapon Concepts
So far I'm working on Buster Sword, Auron's Masamune, Bows, Mace, Dark Knight Halbred, Zangetsu, Guts' Dragon Slayer, Zweihander, Baselard, Daedric Two handed axe, and more to follow.

You mentioned wierd instruments could you possible list them I'm curious
Speaking of wierd instruments look up the hurdy gurdy it is a unique instrument that can sound like every thing from bagpipes to a violin and can create a wierd mixture of the two it's a really cool instrument

Oh and a musical suggestion for moments of hilarious chaos add in the William tell overture(the long ranger theme song) you can have chaos without that  :D

Good to hear from a actual blue once in a while.

Good progress on the audio side of things. Hopefully you will post a sample or two of your planned music for kenshi. I am interested in what style and theme you will create as the end product.

Hello again everyone! Back with another update to the blog. In it I also address a bit of what you were asking for, Mafearaak.

As for demos... once we get something we're quite happy with then I'll talk to Chris & see if maybe we can post some excerpts :)

Just picked the game up on Steam (damn Steam summer sales are pure evil  ). So far I am loving the sandbox nature of this game. I knew the game didn't have sound before I bought it, but I really hope you guys (or gals) get the sound going for this game as soon as humanly possible. I listened to the youtube clip on your blog and gotta say I like what I am hearing. Keep up the good work!

Welcome to the forums. I've read that sound will be trickling in in small pieces as larger updates are made. To my knowledge the next update will be armor crafting and/or walls.

Yeah, still not sure how we're going to release the audio with game updates yet. Definitely want to make sure that what you'll eventually be hearing though is of very high quality and as near as possible to the finished product.

Also... new "Kenshi" audio update! Music System, Session, & Beards... http://kolemusician.com/blog/?p=75
