Can we own 'armies' ? (Armies are controllable, squads can be told to guard, patrol, and so on in specific areas)

Yes, just get lots and lots of characters, you can get a whole army. The game will be designed for it
I am just curious if anyone knows how Chris is going to implement armies. Is your squad limit going to be something like 200+ people? or are your soldiers going to be NPC's that you can hire? Will you have to pay them wages or just a 1 time hiring fee? Any info at all would be nice. :)

I believe we are going to get to have more squads under our control and you can just switch between them at will.

I'd assume that uncontrolled squads could possibly be assigned to specific jobs, similarly to how we can already ctrl+right click something to assign a job to a target character, otherwise the management of every single person in, say, at least 10+ squads would be unbearable.

I could also see some type of long distance movement command that you can give to a whole squad so you don't have to command each one to move every 100 meters.

I would rather keep the twenty i have control of and then hire NPCs to do specific things (gaurd area, patrols, laborers.) twenty people is already annoying enough to equip, train, maintain (IE: make sure they don't die while i'm not paying attention to some of them, make sure they are doing their job and not glitching, then later we will have to make sure the tards are drinking and eating, and healing themselves when needed and going to bed to rest when needed.)

i am not at all interested in managing any more than the 20 i have. So again i say, hired NPCs in which i can give said hired squads specific instructions from a single window (as well as manage equipment and other things on a mass scale), or something like that. I know many people i have spoken to about this matter agree with me. 20 is already annoying enough to control, let alone 50 or 100 or 200.

the way i see it my original 20 are the officers of my army, if i have enough bases i could see myself splitting them up in groups of 2, and then if possible have a retinue of soldiers that follow them around. That said, the ability to take manual control of my hired npcs would be nice for troops movement on the battlefield for example. Though some of my 20 will have specialized roles, such as assassination, spying and diplomacy and other things. so then i would likely have some of those 20 be my generals or sorts.

I would not mind another ten squad members for a max of 30, that doesnt seem so bad in the event i start building an empire. but PLEEEEASE dont make me control more than that manually. If that happened i would say screw empire building and just start over and control only a couple people. micro managing a large number of people will destroy a beautiful game like this in my opinion.

GUI re-skin and improvements, multiple squads allowing for more characters

Just noticed this on the roadmap, i guess that says enough for how it wil be xD.

I was looking for a thread with a similar topic which people waned to know how they would be, but was not founding so did on this one which is similar.
