Is there anyway to get a longer zoomed out view?

The way it is now you can not see on the tops of mountains and the zoom out seems to be the only restriction we have that i can tell with the camera. I am constantly wanting the zoom to extend out longer and was just wondering why it was so restricted?

I don't think it needs distance changes, just the ability to orbit below the horizion or somehow look up when at the limit.

Fully zoomed out makes everyone look like ants. I'm seconding the ability to look up with the camera. I would be happy with a mere 30 degrees of inclination. I want to watch the stars and I want to be able to look up into a character's face.
