Just a quick question... Will we be able to change our human characters into bone men when they are released? I feel this should be something we can do, at least for characters we had before the upcoming update as we obviously didn't have a choice in the matter before it.

I bet what is going to happen is whenever the next stable build is released, you will likely need to create a new game, or import your save to a new game. Either way, the initial screen will be the character creation screen of your first character. After that, you can take each other character to a Plastic Surgeon and modify them however you wish, since it would only make sense to allow people to try out every available race via the Plastic Surgeon rather than restricting them before the end of alpha, or beta.

Considering how they are saying all these new features needing to work in tandem for the game to work properly I would believe that this next update as major as it sounds would break save games completely, especially with the ports being made and new world map if it comes along then?

you can still import into a new game.
though when the new world map comes in, you will lose your base.

I apologize for getting off topic here, but would said update effect/dismantle buildings you own in cities? If so much map work, etc is being done, what would carry over? Just character/squad info and makeup?

your squad, and anything they have on them. ( Backpacks and inventory ) and if checked. research you have already done.
this is what happens when you currently import without buildings.
