ok, random question, but i am lost.

one of the 5 speakers i use for my coimputer keeps popping. like a repetitive pop pop pop pop pop

its not real loud and doesnt increase with volume.

i have onboard 5.1 surround (not good but it was cheap)

its just a quiet pop pop pop pop pop pop

and only 2 of the 5 speakers work :/ however in the sound settings where can test the speakers i get sound form all of them.

Not sure about the popping. Doublecheck if all your wires are connected cleanly

What are you trying to play? For normal usage, only the 2 speakers (front R and L) and the subwoofer work since most programs don't use 5.1 unless you turn it on in the options, even then it's just emulated unless it's a 5.1 movie surround sound or such...

Also check in the software for your soundcard and (if available) for your surround system, sometimes the options aren't activated by default

everything is clean and connected right. when sound comes out the popping stops. i kidna figured the different programs were not using 5.1... (like pandora and older games tat i play... should load up a newer game to see, or a DVD) which was a bummer

figured it was something i was missing but looks like its just the way its going to be... except for the popping... that might just be the on board sound card though.

Often onboard cheaply made sound can get interference from other nearby ports and electronic signals. This sounds like a case of that.

You can try and find a way to emulate 5.1sound, that's what I do when listening to mp3 for example. It won't be true surround sound but a least you get to blast music out of all speakers

The popping in most cases is wires not correctly connected or as matt said interference due to cheap material...

saved money by skimping on the sound card... oh well.

might also be damaged cables/connectors or something like that. mine are old and abused and from time to time they start making high pitched noises..i just move them a little bit and it stops usually

I get the same sound when I have my router next to my speaker. So if you have a router or something similar try moving it away from the speaker.

Maybe the shielding is damaged of that particular speaker. So I would guess interferance with other electronic stuff around your speakers.

You could try holding a (switched on) cell phone near your speakers, and see if the popping increases in volume/intensity. That would be a pretty sure sign for bad/damaged shielding.

nope. not that. i know what you're talking about because the speakers at work do that.

It was a wild guess.

Hope you figured it out in the meantime.
