So I've made a few thoughts.(Nothing big but..) Chris you have somewhere once said (i cant find it ^ ^) that you want to outsource the pathfinding, the Foliage System and the multi-threading if you have the money. I looked around a bit and I've seen games like Zomboid or Survivors of Ragnarok have special editions which cost more money(around 40€) with no additional value . No special features but at a higher price to support the project. So I looked around on your site to give something extra but there was no way. My thought was if I give Chris more money he can outsource more stuff i can have a faster release and that would help every Fan :) so .. Chriss wazup?

Easy mah friend, Buy extra copies, that solves stuff and buy them directly from here.
Dat how we worked it out over at S.P.A.Z, I myself bought 4 copies of spaz. (though it costed 15eu ea, feel a bit ripped of as it costed 15 dollar for usa hohoho)
... and as I have so -many- friends who like to play computer games (none) I just had to throw them away ^^

Edit: I have friends, but those is steam friends or from other games, and rarely have any money or intresst to fund my taste of indie games. (Had to make sure so you guys dont think im some super nerd and has no friends!)

Collector's Edition? I want i want

If you pay enough for collector, you could get some more things (besides a copy of the game obviously) like:

If not to costly:
- A DVD in Tin box delivered when the game is done (or before maybe) with Chris's signature
- Extra bonus Code to give as gift to a friend (thanks trackmania)
- Map of Kenshi as Poster
- Game Soundtrack CD
- Mention in the Credits somewhere
- Also maybe A special Tag in the forums so you can brag (l33t collector)

Also possible (some games do it), but it's like slapping the community around:
- Exclusive bonus quest
- Special ingame content

Finally (to make my post bigger)
- bees
-A Jar of *CENSORED*
-A compass

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

Need help? pm me or any other mod.

Heh, you could sell overpriced kenshi T-shirts as a way of allowing people to donate

I think the point of making a collectors edition and then giving us more stuff misses the point of the original post. He wants us to be able to give extra to the kenshi cause without actually putting the base game price up. So having a special 'support kenshi' version that is twice the price, for example, allows chris to get the extra funding from people who want to contribute more than just a single purchase.

I still think buying multiple copies is the way to go though. It looks better for chris too if he ever has to approach someone for funding or a joint investment or something if he has 2000 sales x $10 than 1000 sales X $20. Of course, if the people want to pay then allow them. The true art of capitalism. :D

-Add yourself as an easter egg character who tells random stuff. Like "M'aiq the Liar" (skyrim for those that dont know)
-A submarine (j/k)
-nothin...

Otherwise better to have higher sale number than lower just as blxz said.

I sent a PM to Chris about Kickstarter a few weeks ago, which is a great site to help people get funds to finish a project. If he went with something like this he could offer a few things such as a special weapon, armour/weapons named after donating a certain amount, name in game, name as a special thanks in credits, etc... There are lots of ideas that other projects have already done. Such as Star Command.

I have already bought 2 of Kenshi so far, and trying to give it away as a gift is sometimes hard because not a lot of people are interested in Indie games and even then those that are may not want to start in on a game in Alpha stage. There are about 4 people I will give the game to once it gets a bit more complete, but a couple of them have already said they love the concept of the game and can't wait till its done, so no sense giving it to them now when they won't play it and most likely will forget about it in their game library.

Another source of revenue for Chris could be t-shirts too. I would definitely buy a Lo-Fi/Kenshi shirt (and if one is already available, let me know so I can get one).

There are so many great opportunities. I love the idea of kickstarter. I would love a collectors edition but i don `t need extra content, if there were extra content perfectly, if not also great .. ^ ^ .. The simplest example would be if say chris i need for multi-threading (as exsample [No Idea what it would cost]) $ 1,500. Give us the possibility and and a status bar xD and see what you get.

kickstarter only allow US citizens for some random reason. I cant use it. The other equivalent international sites get hardly any interest.

Well that sucks. :(

I like Arutha's idea though. Set a goal with a status bar with money raised and we'll do what we can to help out. While I am not rich I can throw $20 here and $20 there from time to time. Also with some set goal we can spread the word around and get more people donating.

I think this is a great idea. We don't even need a "Special Edition" we just need a Donate button. There are plenty of us it seems that are more than willing to throw money at you to help with game development.

On a side note, if its not too confidential. What's the sales figures looking like at the moment?

Actually, if you were to use a 'donate' button then maybe give us a special forum icon or name colour change. Anything for status I am sure people would be happy to donate.

I did at first but:

1- paypal sometimes get nasty and steal all your money when you use their donate button, another disaster that hit project zomboid.
2- donations confuse the tax man
3- i can't code the forum to auto-link to donations and change a status of a user

well, he could also up the price, 50 cents or maybe 75 cents.

wouldnt add tons but over time he would see an increase in funds.
