Version:
0.33

Description:
The player created outpost I made when I first stated playing Kenshi will not go away when starting a fresh new game. The outpost consisted of a shack (1 storage chest, 2 building material storage, 1 weapons rack and 1 armor storage) A small house ( 2 prison cells, 2 training dummys) and a large house (2 beds). It was very close to the town 'Brink''.

This was really quite annoying as I noticed it would not go away no matter how many times I started a new game. I even went into my save folder and cleared everything out (leaving all folders empty). But still they remain there. The reason I wanted to get rid of the outpost was because the buildings seemed to be quite buggy, such as the floor remaining pitch black when entering, with the exception of the Large House which shows the interior correctly and characters often walking over the buildings (appearing on the roof) instead of going inside them. This happened with all 3 buildings. So I built another small shack elsewhere close to my outpost and it didn't seem buggy at all. It also disappeared when starting a new game, as it should.

Steps to Reproduce:
Sorry, but honestly I can't say. Other than build an outpost consisting of the same things I used and similar location & start a new game!

Consistency
It won't go away, so.. all the time.

System specs/OS:
Desktop computer - Windows 7 64bit, 10GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560.

Severity:
major

Workaround:
Just pretend like the outpost is not there! Or just keep using it for the time being.

That is quite bizarre... Have you tried building yet another building in that area to recompute the collision mesh? Sometimes when I import my buildings I start to walk through the walls of my constructed outpost SIV and the roof doesn't cut-away, and when I walk into my raised Tavern my units drop back to ground level when I walk into the building. I combed through a few threads and found Chris mention that constructing a building recalculates the collision mesh. For my building/outpost issues, I have been able to simply add on to the outpost, a small shed would likely do the trick and cost very little to produce. Perhaps at least after that your buildings would be usable. I can't speak toward them not going away when you started a new game, that is a strange bug. A fresh install would fix it, but it would also leave Chris without any files to peruse to see what caused it in the first place. Perhaps you could install in a fresh directory if it comes to that?

can you send me your savegame? zip up the quicksave folder and upload it here. Also did you do an "import with buildings" or anything to make them bug out?

No , I havent tried building another buikding next to them. Okay Chris. But like i said I did delete all save games and ill just have a new game save. Are the outpost's saved in the save folder? Otherwise deleting all saves would of got rid of everything yes?

And yes I did do an import with building at some point . Does that usually cause the bugs with the buildings?

I had a similar problem once. I think that the problem is that you built the buildings too close to the town Brink. When I built a building in the area of Brink, I had the same exact problems. I (Luckily) loaded to a game that I had saved before building the structure, and proceeded to build the building much further away from Brink. This stopped all of the bugs I encountered with it.

Also, I noticed that the largest structure you can build has the least amount of bugs associated with it. Is there any reason for this?
I'm not insane. I'm unique.

This appears to still be an issue in .40.5 and may still involve Brink as I am having the same problem after having built a town at the bottom of the slope Brink sits on. Even after dismantling all the buildings, it is still marked on the map.
