I have the same problem and tried all the possible solutions from the stickies.
I bought the latest steam version of the game.
Even the download and the installation from the newest version on indiedb.com didn't solve the problem with the graphic issues.
System Specs:
Win XP 32bit
C2D E8400
Nvidia GTX260
All drivers uptodate.
I really would appreciate a fix to this problem, because the gameplay i have seen on youtube looks pretty interesting.

Can you upload a screenshot that may give me a better idea of what I'm looking at Jukeboxx? Typically disabling shadows works with this sort of thing, have you hit the done button (lower mid-right of the screen) and tried running into a building and the issue still persisted afterward?
Finally i was able to start the game.
This is how the creation screen looks like, with shadows off: This is how the creation screen looks like, with shadows on: After running into a building it worked for me, to be able to play the game without the weird graphics so far.
After entering the game, before entering a building, with shadows activated, it looks like this: After entering a building then everything is fine, despite shadows are enabled.
Thx 4 the quick reply by the way.

Considering this is a known issue, I wonder if it could be helped by having initial character creation happen inside of a building. There'd still be the shader issue, but in theory it'd help out people who have whatever-the-cause-is issue that's fixed by entering a building.
