Drifter Boots seem to be unbuildable

after buying and using the drifter boot blueprint I can't find the option to build it at any of my armor crafting benches (leather, chain or plate)
same for Drifter's leather pants and armored rags

also can't seem to research better quality Trader's leathers

Yeah, it's that way with a couple of things that you are supposed to be able to craft. But seeing as all the drifter armors were introduced in the newest update (0.50.3) they may not have been completed. There's a whole list of armors that aren't working properly if you add them to the game through the forgotten construction set but I assume they've been left out because they haven't finished implementing them yet.

Just to add on to your issue though. Is anyone else having issues with not being able to craft everything from a leather armour crafting bench? When you first unlock it you are supposed to be able to craft "White Turtleneck, Cargopants, Halfpants (ragged), Wooden Sandals, White Vest, White Shirt, Traders Leathers" (according to the description when researching the bench). I am only getting the options for Cargopants, Halfpants and the Traders Leathers. I have started fresh games to see if that makes a difference but it has not for me.

IIRC drifters leathers come on Infinite Wingwang, so they exist, but they must not be properly attributed to a crafting station.

I can confirmed this.
It is also possible to buy Drifters Boots and Armour from select vendors.

Yes I am confirming I have this issue as well. But as for your statment of the vendors yes you can buy most of it. But there is the issue that the vendors usualy do not have the quantity I need. One or 2 idems is not worth the time I have to take to run from city to city hopping to find one. When I should be able to mass produce in my own city.

give it time
eventually they will be added into the game.
the quality system is not fully added to the game yet, there will be better grades you can make at some time in the future.
until then, we have to wait for them to be added.
