[Fixed] Crash after settings setup
I just discovered the game on GamersGate and thought I'd give the demo a try as it looks greatly promising.
However after launching the demo and getting to the settings it crashes every time. My PC is good enough to run the game, I've installed DX9. I've redownloaded my drivers and nothing has worked. The only other things in the dependencies are the dotnet for mods and the redist which I already have a better version of.
I'd post the crashdump but its not in the folder, I checked everywhere and even ran a search of the install folder (in my C:/programs/x86 directory) and it doesn't find anything.
Kind of stuck here and getting frustrated D:

Can you tell the version you are on?
Try updating manually: Kenshi/wyUpdate.exe
Other then that, read the topic known bugs

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.

where exactly does it crash? when you click ok? Does the game window open up at all?
What are your system specs? What was the file name of the installer you downloaded, or is this the desura version crashing?

was anything different the time you could run it? Any clues? Are there any .log files or .txt files generated in the /kenshi/ folder after it crashes? If so zip them up and upload them here.
There will be a new update tomorrow, it wont fix you but it will have more debug information for me so I can fix it.

It seemed to work as a fresh install from Desura. The demo worked first try that way and so did the alpha on my laptop. But when I removed the demo and installed the alpha on my computer thats when it started crashing again.
Ive tried removing everything and installing again but it still wont work.
Theres an error.txt file in there but when I open it its just blank.

the alpha and the demo are the same thing.
There is a new update now. It should come up when you start the game. Update it, then run it. After the crash, see if there is a file called crashhunter.log and send it to me.

did it definately absolutely update?
You have a PC and a laptop, does it run on one of them? Or do the same thing on both?
Try forcing the vcredist to install just to be sure.
Try re-installing the game in a new location with the newest installer. Don't install to program files folder.
Try running as administrator.

Definitely updated, it works on the laptop and did work before on my PC before I deleted it and installed alpha (both in Desura)
Vcredist says a newer version is already installed and has even when it worked before D:
However running as admin seems to work. Not sure why I didnt think of that tbh, maybe because im running it through Desura and I dont know how to get it to run through admin on it.
I guess Ill just have to run it from the .exe from now on.
