Constant Crashing Vanilla Game
I bought Kenshi for me and my friend. The game is amazing. We've already sunk 70+ hours in and only had it for a couple of weeks.
The problem that me and him both face is that it crashes without any error message for both of us. My rig runs the game smoothly on max settings but it will sometimes just crash to my desktop; no error messages, no warning, just boom... crash.
For this reason I have to save often. Very often. Like literally, if I plan to do anything important at all, I must save or else I risk losing all of my unsaved progress to this mysterious crash... and it happens to my friend too. We both are playing the vanilla game, no mods, just the most recent download from Steam and still crash a few times each time we play.
Might be important to note that I can tell when it's about to crash. The game will be running perfectly fine, then out of nowhere will slow down to a complete halt and... boop, I'm back to my desktop and Steam is syncing files.
Anyone know why we're both dealing with the same issue on a fresh install, completely vanilla game on two totally different rigs? I can post my specs if necessary.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Please upload the crashdump.zip file.
if the game did not create one, then zip up and upload the kenshi.txt or the Kenshi._info.txt file after the game crashes and before you restart it.
You can find the files at default install location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi

Ah, well I'm clocked in right now. Maybe I can upload it tonight when I get off. It seems unusual that we're both getting the same exact crash often on a clean install. I'll see if he can zip and send me his crash dumps as well. There has to be a heap of them for both of us lol.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 10:44 pmPlease upload the crashdump.zip file.

Hey, i had the same issue, but now i don't have it. what i did was to move the location of the installdestianation from D to C. No idea what might have caused that to fix it, but its worth a try. Tell me if that worked.

It's just this game, guys. This game just crashes, has lots of bugs but still manages to be as addicting as a young kid discovering WoW or RS for the first time.
I decided to not post my logs...
It seems to be a common issue, mods or not. Crashes and bugs galore. Yet, here I am still playing this hot mess of a game. As of now, there is not enough cons to outweigh the pros.
But I do crash. Every time I play this game, every single time, it has to crash at least once... Either that or I have to experience an aggravating bug, usually something to do with pathfinding which I know the devs had a lot of trouble working on.
I will never understand why my Engineer will walk from one side of the base to the other, continuously, and never accomplish any tasks I provide him unless I micromanage his every move.
It's just a buggy, crashy, surreal experience that I do not regret wasting the past month of my life playing.
I hate the bugs and crashes but I love the game.
The end.

the Devs still need those logs, just because others have simulier, do not mean they are the same.

Well go get them the logs then.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:02 pmthe Devs still need those logs, just because others have simulier, do not mean they are the same.
There is also the fact that even if the issue is the same, it will not always be apparent what the cause is in just one set of logs. Often times multiple sets of logs from different users are required, in order to investigate similarities between the cases and identify the issue.
So it is always good to upload logs/dumps when you get crashes. As it only take a couple minutes on the user's end, and might end up being very helpful in resolving the issue.

Sorry, I can't... I'm too busy playing Kenshi.Shidan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 2:51 amThere is also the fact that even if the issue is the same, it will not always be apparent what the cause is in just one set of logs. Here, I'll tell you why I haven't posted my logs since you guys are breathing down my neck like me paying $60(bought 2 copies) wasn't enough to support the game and help fuel ironing out the bugs by the developers...Shidan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 2:51 amThere is also the fact that even if the issue is the same, it will not always be apparent what the cause is in just one set of logs. That, instead, I'm suppose to be posting logs for all these crashes I get & I get a lot of them.
(before you take it out of context, I'm being sarcastic)
Vanilla, I was getting a bunch of them. Sort of ironic, I decided to download mods(mods that do NOT handle any optimization of the game at all) and the game crashes less.
I get a lot of crashes, but sometimes they're far in-between so I forget that I even crashed. I'm pretty good about saving too. I got home after a late night at work and loaded up Kenshi, totally forgetting that I posted this thread in this forum.
I forgot to post the crash logs. I will continue to forget as it is not my responsibility, and I'm not trying to be malicious at all... I just forgot to post my logs and ended up downloading mods and do not feel it is my job to jump to these forums for each crash I get... Because, frankly, I get a fuckton of them.
I will still try to post my logs if I get any crashes here on out... If I remember.Shidan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2019 2:51 amThere is also the fact that even if the issue is the same, it will not always be apparent what the cause is in just one set of logs. But the real question is, does it matter that I have downloaded mods now? Will the logs still be oh-so-helpful even with the mods added?

does not matter if you use mods or not.
and we are just trying to say that each log file matters in the process of eventually getting bugs fixed.
but, we only asked because you where willing to post about the bugs you encounter, but most times these can be non reproducible with out more information. aka log files and crashdumps.
we get people filing bug reports saying their game crashed, ( mostly on steam ) and provide no information. which is extremely unhelpful to actually fixing the crashes.
and on a indie game title on its first game those logs become very important.
but we do thank you for trying. when you can get the files to us, that would be wonderful.

You guys just seem very pleasant so you have, in a wholesome way, coerced me into uploading my crash logs.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 2:47 amdoes not matter if you use mods or not.
