Kenshi has crashed because you ran out of video memory crash

https://ufile.io/bjp9wcqj is the crash dump and https://ufile.io/8201446s is the system info file. Most recent game versions since it is a fresh install.
I keep getting that crash just trying to start a new character in the character creation screen. I haven't played in a long time so just reinstalled the game on a new pc build. I monitored my video ram and vram and neither even came close to be used up and still got that crash. I have tried all the mentioned solutions to try to fix this but nothing has worked. I can't even get through character creation before it crashes. All drivers are up to date, I have un-installed and reinstalled and verified game files to no avail.

Hmm, it seems to be some sort of issue with the RenderSystem_Direct3D11_x64.dll file. I'd try deleting it then revalidating the game. It's in the main kenshi folder.

When you did the reinstall before, was it a clean reinstall? In other words did you clear the folder out manually before reinstalling?


If that doesn't work, try running that file through this dependencies program.

The re-install was totally fresh. After uninstalling I manually searched and deleted any files I found associated with Kenshi. Prior to that the original install was 100% fresh. First time ever being on this PC. I deleted the dll you showed and verified the files and it still didn't work. I downloaded dependencies and checked the file in it and it shows exactly what your screenshot shows. I get to the character customization screen and I can select randomize all like 2 or 3 times before it crashes.

Have you tested other game starts, to test if maybe it's location based?

What about different graphics setting, since it seems to be an issue in the graphics rendering systems?

And what about trying to speed through the customization screen and immediately entering, to see if it's the editor crashing or something it's loading behind the scenes?

Unfortunately this is not a common error code, so we're stuck throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks unless a dev chimes in.

It is definitely something hanging up in the character creation screen causing it. If I rush start the game it's fine so far. Been playing 10 min at max everything video and no crashes. All sliders maxed and everything else maxed out. I tried lowering everything in the graphics to as low as it would got but it only gained me about 10 seconds of character creation time before crashing, but if I rushed to go straight to playing it was fine. It don't seem to matter what start i choose. If the game crashes again while actually playing I'll add the new crash dump file it generates.

Well, good to hear you can play at least!

At some point you should test a plastic surgeon too, see if it crashes there too or just on the full customization screen.

Will do a test with all of them. Thanks for the help. So far no crashes as long as I go straight to the game. Now I can scratch my kenshi itch lol.
