Cannot hold anything in inventory?

For some reason none of my squad members can hold anything in their inventory?
When I grab things from a chest or other storage area, they disappear once the window is closed.
However, if I set jobs and have people auto-hauling they're able to hold things just fine.

Restarting the game had no effect.

How can I get it so I can carry things?

turn off auto dump in the AI control panel.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.
Then Men would become unmanageable

Current computer specs.
