I have Kenshi installed to drive E, my external hard drive, due to memory space constraints. I have never taken off this external hard drive. I have recently booted up Kenshi to play since seven months ago. However, Kenshi keeps on giving me the Filesystem Error of 'You need to run Kenshi with admin permissions enabled (I tried running it with admin permissions enabled to no avail), or move your /kenshi/ installation folder somewhere outside of the C:/program files(x86)/ folder. This is required because WIndows is stupid.' The game files are in my E:/Steam/steamapps/common/Kenshi/ folder. While the game appears to run fine (except I noticed there was no autopause during character creation so I kept on getting reports of nests being wiped out while I created my character), I get the file system error every second, making it impossible to do anything in the game. This error only persists when I start a new game or attempt to load a game. It starts from the loading screen and does not stop until the game crashes or I exit using task manager. Please help.

I have already consulted existing forums. I had file permission errors before last year. It's part of the reason why I moved the entire Steam installation directory to my external drive, Drive E. Kenshi has worked before but after many months of not playing, Kenshi keeps giving me these errors in a new game, imported game, or loaded game. Could you please suggest an alternate solution more specific to my case? Please keep in mind that I have tried common solutions such as reinstalling the game, restarting the computer, getting rid of all mods, reinstalling mods, etc. I know that I did have graphic troubles when I first got the laptop and had to redirect all my files via a command line (within file or program properties). Since I moved the entire game folder to my external drive, the command line does not work anymore since it directs to a nonexistent folder. I cannot find the post I had consulted then either. I am uncertain if this issue is relevant to my current issue with Kenshi, but it is one of the very few things I have not tried. Would you please also check if the game gives similar errors if I load it from an external hard drive? I am considering using Steam mover to move Kenshi files to the main computer. I am hesitant about it since Steam mover seems to frequently fail on WIndows 10.

there's more solutions posted in that link other than moving the game folder.

I did try what was said on that discussion. A combination of restarting my computer (again) and using Steam as admin seemed to work.

good to hear
and if you find any other solutions that work with it
don't be afraid to add it to the discussion. since this is a weird issue over all.
