Background:
I've been playing kenshi for a while. Got the steam key for it when it moved. Love it.
Recently, I've been unable to launch the game. I've tried both through steam and by directly running kenshi_64.exe
The executable runs, and I can see it sitting at 13% CPU usage (Which I assume is one CPU thread) and 9484K of memory.
Nothing is displayed at any point in this process. Not the splash screen. No log files have been written to.

The game is running the current main steam branch, though I also switched to the experimental branch to see if that would change anything, but it did not.

Things I've tried:
  • Running in compatibility modes
  • Running as administrator
  • Fixing the directory ownership
  • Fixing the directory permissions
  • Validating files through steam
  • Reinstalling the game
  • Removing my saves
  • Searching for topics similar to mine (Nothing in any of those threads seemed to help) - note that searching was somewhat impeded by the fact that the search filtered out some "common" words like "game" and "start", so I apologise if I've missed anything.
System Specs:
Note: The game has succesfully run on my computer before, so I don't believe it should have anything to do with my specs.
Windows 8.1 Pro, 64 Bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080
i7-6700K CPU (4GHz)
32GB RAM

The only things I can think of is either UAC or antivirus getting in the way.

did you try
uninstalling the game ( after moving your saves and any mods you created )
then going in and deleting the Kenshi folder thats left
then reinstalling?

Looks like that worked, thank you so much!

Didn't have any mods and I'd already backed up my saves. I saved a copy of what steam didn't remove, should I post it here?

EDIT: Looks like it was specifically either ./kenshi.cfg or ./settings.cfg
