Cotton Machine endless upgrades

I researched the automated cotton machine and noticed i could upgrade my original one- so i figured it would upgrade into the automated one. What happens when I press the upgrade button is the cotton machine goes to a rebuild mode where my guys work on it- it doesnt require materials but I can keep pressing upgrade after it is finished and it always remains as a original hand cranked cotton machine.

No big deal i just deleted the original and built a completely new automated one.

I noticed that to after 3 times of upgrading and still the same machine. Only then u get a downgrade button to.
