Crashed while quick-saving during a fight. Version 0.29.5

Loading the game brings me into a squad with zero people, but my faction money remains... shame I cant do anything with it =P

So much for those awesome guys I was training! lol.

Ok, sorry about that, I will fix it.

the EXACT same thing happened to me. Not sure if it helps, but it happened shortly after I finished building the largest building

Its impossible for me to find the root of the crash, but what I have done in the meantime is installed some fail-safes. It will now save your squad 1st, so if it crashes mid-save you should still be able to import your squad and hopefully your buildings too.
It will also backup a copy of your last savegame to a folder called "bak".

Thanks, I feel more comfortable playing after what happened. (Although it wouldn't keep me from playing )

This happened to me today ): i lost my 40+ skills character. but i just downloaded a mod so that way i can recruit almost every npc in the game, i got some shop guards, and those should do the work just fine.

did you have the latest version? 29.6?
