Crashing in the Character Creation Screen

After 5 seconds or less in the character creation screen, my game will crash. However, if I quickly hit confirm, I can play the game just fine. My problem only seems to appear the in character creation process. I've tried with both mods enabled and disabled.

Well, it's not a common issue. Can only find one other report with this error code, and the person just disabled mods and imported, and it stopped happening. Which isn't super relevant to you, since you said you tried without mods, and it's happening on new games.
Error code in question:
OGRE EXCEPTION(887a0005:RenderingAPIException): Error Presenting surfaces. Description: hr = 0x887A0005
(Reason: 0x887A0020). Reason: 2289696800 in D3D11RenderWindowSwapChainBased::swapBuffers at ..\..\..\RenderSystems\Direct3D11\src\OgreD3D11RenderWindow.cpp (line 632)
Best things I can suggest is tweak graphics settings, update drivers, reinstall DirectX, and verify files. See if any of that helps.
