Render problems

Hello,
first id like to congratulate Chris the Great for doing a great job on this game so far.

Now lets get down to business....Starting with 0.39 the game just doesnt render properly whenever i try to load save/reset squad/start a new game.....What i get is this:
Image

As you can see its gamebreaking because it cant see anything 8-) Its probably terrain rendering related because the building are mostly untouched. Ive tried searching the forums but havent found anything like this....

EDIT: Oh and i almost forgot:
My rig:
C2D E6600
2gigs ram
Nvidia GT 440

Tried the general troubleshooting stuff.....using different FSAA settings, Vsync, and turning on/off the fancy shaders. Nothing really helped

Nope, including some other games running on Ogre, ive never had this kind of problem on the current setup...

Presumably you checked for the latest drivers.

Does this issue happen with 0.33 if you try it now?

I think it may have happened once in 0.33 but nothing this serious and i was unable to reproduce it.

Ill try reinstalling the drivers and if that doesnt help DX9....

EDIT: Done....neither has helped :(

Did you try taking out the cartridge and blowing on it a couple times? There might be some debris on the contacts.

I jest, it just looks like 8-bit barf to me  But seriously I hope your graphics card isn't taking a dump or something. What kind of settings are you running with?

i wish it was as easy as fixing good old 8-bit cartridge

well the card is relatively new and ive had no problems with it so far even when playing more demanding games
i think its set to highest atm but ive tried taking everything down and up and no joy :x but it has to be the terrain rendering because everything is fine up to the second terrain itself starts loading...the sky and buildings load just fine....also turning on/off fancy shaders and that terrain cutting thingie(w/e it is)

Did you download the update by torrent or by the direct download? I am having very similar problems and I did the direct download I don't know if there might be a connection there.

Come to think of it, I had trouble running the game when I installed over it. Everything was fine after I did a fresh reinstall. Have you tried that yet?

I just tested the download link, and installed the game from this file. It installed and played without any problems.

I suppose it's possible that your file was corrupted during the download. This could be checked by testing the MD5 of a known working version and yours, but everything I can find online requires downloading an application, and I don't feel like doing that.

DJ Die, Did you try installing 0.33 again? You can have both installed at once - just choose a different installation directory. This should help rule out a hardware problem.

Andrew, can you post your system specs if you are having this problem too? (i.e. operating system. 32/64 bit, graphics card).

ok did a new installation of 0.33 and no problem whatsoever.....so its has to be something in the 0.39 that does it...
this is probably a question for Chris the great so: have you changed the way terrain is rendered/shaders between 0.33 and 0.39?
the distortion is seemingly caused by the main menu as you can see from the "Kenshi" in the screen as if it wasnt totally removed from memory....

Have you tried messing with the texture quality options yet?

yeah ive tried changing everything including FSAA quality settings shadows etc.

EDIT: never mind it was just a random glitch and im unable to reproduce it so its just one of the EA bugs....

sorry for double post but ive found a workaround.....it seems running into a building resets everything so it works again strange....it has to have something to do with shaders or render used for terrain because buildings are ok...

try turning down settings, especially shadow quality. I'll add a turn off shadows option in the next update too. Also try setting "No Terrain Cutting".

yeah thats what i did but i still have to enter a building to reset everything to normal as i said its really strange....dont the buildings use the same shadows?
