Research Bench II made my small house unenterable

I placed a research bench 2 in a small house, and while it didn't appear to be blocking the doorway, the AI would make him run up to the door, then run around the back of the house trying to get in that way...
I cannot 'get at' the bench to complete the construction, nor can i dismantle it (or the house obviously).
