I have discovered that after first aid is given to a defeated enemy (to ensure he arrives alive for maximum profit) his faction likes me more. This is in spite of collecting a bounty for the same individual. Is this deliberate, or a glitch?

I also noted that the traders(and everyone else) like me when i give first aid despite looting them before. I understand if they do not mind if i use their med-kits to keep them from dying, but they should have a check inventory function to make sure i do not steal anything/too much. I would find it annoying if someone stole my hat, sword, backpack, and everything else after i got beat up, even if that person did save my life.

This is a deliberate design on Chris' part. It makes sense, really: if you're patching up your enemies or other factions, they're gonna like you just a bit more. Now granted, diplomacy itself has yet to be fully worked on, so medkits are really the only way to gain any good standing with factions. Also, taking from people may be worked on later, hopefully, so that it's a little more realistic.

That being said, I do want to report a bug of my own when it comes to healing, so I'll piggy back my issue into your thread if you don't mind. I don't think it's possible, at least from what I can recall, for you to get over 19 relations with any one faction. My highest relationship, with the Sand Ninjas, seems capped at that number. Considering you start the game with -50 relations with most bandits, shouldn't it be fixed so that you can also get really high relations with other faction members, or have I simply not tried hard enough and it is, in fact, possible to get over 20 relations with a faction?

Admittedly, I don't have the time to really check this out and confirm, what with exams and all that jazz pressuring me, but I think I remember being right that this is a glitch I've experienced.

I haven't attempted to get any faction up just yet (don't need them, my group can squash towns at my whim ;D ), but I did notice that after patching up Dust Bandit Bosses and turning them in for bounties, the faction reset to -50 upon the next time I started the game. Then again this was in patch .40, but it must have been a once thing I saw. Ah well! It'll only get better with age! :)

I currently have 5 relations with sand ninja and trader's guild. While I was bandaging them and shoving them on beds I was over 20 at some point, so it is possible to get over 20.

How relationship works is you get X amount (a very small)of permanent relation points when you apply first aid, and a large temporary relation boost. If your relations (whether temporary or otherwise) is high enough, they won't start hitting you as soon as they wake up from their injury.

jailing them, or attacking them will do the exact opposite.
