Dropping Through Map

Started a new game this morning and it's the one where you are two ex-soldiers are one of you is very injured. Well I went to the neatest town and higher a guy and got him to pick up my injured buddy - he was walking too slow so I asked him to drop my buddy so I could pick him up. My injured buddy then dropped through the map and I can't get to him.

Did that with a Ninja. I then saved and reloaded and he was back
