Basic gate navigation issue

not 100% what the cause of this is. but i just recently finished my wall and gate that surrounds my soon to be full sized town. but when i close and lock the gate upon seeing bandits and the like to give my squad time to assemble. the one who closes the gate then runs back to the gate before anything else and just....unlocks it. this of course sends bandits flooding in before everyone gets there and we take uneeded injuries. anyone know what might be causing this?

Best guess is that it treats the gate exactly like a door and since your guys can see the enemy they are pathing to them the shortest route they can find which is straight through the gate which is locked so he unlocks it to get through. They do this with locked doors on buildings too.

My guys are doing the same thing for the gates. If i lock with character a... then character b, working on the stone mine, will go unlock them before he will continue work.

I too have this problem. The character will close the gate but when inside the walls will not move away from the gate without opening it first.

Huh, I don't seem to be having this issue, probably has something to do with where you placed the gate.
Whats the terrain like where you put your gate?

its rather narrow. i found an area near Catan i found to be easily defend-able from bandit attacks before walls were re introduced. and with the new walls around them its even safer. there is only one entrance; a narrow ditch like area with only my gate in the way which is just big enough to block the whole path without clipping issues and the wall itself surrounds all other possible entryways to the town.

you can see the gate at the bottom left.

I have this exact same issue, which I wrote about in gameplay by mistake. Even with the stone miners too!

If the issue is your men trying to get to nearby hostiles, then you should be able to stop them from unlocking your gate by setting your men to "blocks only".

Just tried that, selected all units, set to blocks only, closed the gate...as soon as it closed two of the group went to unlock it again.

Same. I rebuilt the gate several times. There are NO bandits around so my guys are not opening it to get to something. I was able to fight one of my guys away from unlocking the gate, next thing I know two of my other guys run to unlock it. For no reason. Then they go back to work

I also had the same issue and I noticed that if I place gate locking guards
outside the gate they won't open it but will attack enemies normally.
This of course doesn't help much if you just would like to prevent the whole fighting and just sit in your castle

This is why I've moved my whole team to the nearest city for protection until the problem is resolved

Yup, same issue. My guys have Gatehouse OCD. 1 guy locks gate. A couple seconds later another dude comes up and unlocks it. I just figure they've been spending a lot of time together, they're getting on each other's nerves a little, and this is just a way for them to be passive aggressive towards each other. These things happen in small communities.

I think i've found a fix for this. its worked for a couple of mins, even when the game is sped up.
So here's what i did.
1. send a guy outside wall to lock gate.
2 send him inside (he will unlock gate)
3 lock gate from inside
4 wait until your stone miner unlocks (this happens when the mine is full and he goes to transport the rock)
5 relock gate from inside
6 ctrl +shift + f11
7 wait (during this you will see the gate open)
8 relock gate from inside
9 quicksave
Like i said ive only tried this once, and its working so far. I'll check the thread again to see if this works for anyone else
