Since you guys have done so well fixing so many of the bugs to get us to 74.4 I thought it best to start a new list of some of the lesser issues still outstanding. I will post them in separate posts as requested.

1. Icons for the squad are still blank. Only one character has an image and that is from when they were knocked out. so they are laying down. Have gotten some new recruits but their images don't load after I customize them.

I know that this was mentioned before but with all the updates I wanted to let you know it was still out there.

Do you believe the sexes should be equal?
Oh heavens no.

You can also just equip a piece of headgear.
Anytime a character equips an item (even if just clicking an item already equipped), the character's portrait reloads.
When importing my 60 man squad into a new game, I had to click on every character's gear in order to make it appear on their 3D model in-game.

Tried the Head gear thing, also the armor and shirt, but no effect. I will try and load up on Building supplies and import into a new game. I have not tried that yet.

Only importing fixes it, but afterwards they don't update anymore with new gear.

Importing worked, but new hires are still blank.
Is it possible to have a button added to the UI to allow us to update the image.
We can select the character and press the button like at the DMV. Have it just fire off the function that creates the image for one character. That way we can update them manually.

This one is wierd...right?
First of all, any 'loadgame' other than first after game-restarts will result in blank portraits.
Importing updates portraits, but still all new members you hire start with blanks.
Plastic Surgeon operations give nothing.

Once happened to me portrait did update ...thing was i had dirt-import my squad to new game (not importing via menu import) through .platoon file switch/add as my save was corrupted and i really wanted to save my squads of 20 nobodies who leveled so long - and portraits of them overlap portraits of 5 new ones from new game (same portrait_id) ...every time i switched helmet it updated (of course for both characters =/ having same face).

Then i started modded gamestart with 50 people - where last 4 was a test subjects, so if ID starts from "0" their ID was 46-47-48-49 = no overlapping with old squad as they ended on 19. Importing such abomination save game with added those 4 in unique .platoon result in no shared portraits.

Either way we can't change .platoons files in construction work set as it glitch those files (even if saved without any changes), so it would be nice FOR NOW UNTIL FURTHER DEVELOP - every time game loads script updates portraits. Without it we are stuck wit it and no importing help it - i know game was not designed for such edits ;-)
Also i "see" there is a script to update faces when character change its helmet but why its not working in most cases i don't know...or maybe it is but other part of code is broken it would seem?

I play on 0.74.14 DX11.

Regards.

This also happens if you load a game after loading a game before (so if you reload after playing the game for a bit without restarting). Now blank portraits isn't a huge problem, but I even have the problem of them portraits disappearing entirely, as in I can't tell where the boxes are to select characters from their portraits.

Yes, i mentioned the 'first load' also...its entirely true.
As for portrait boxes...i though this is rare.
Maybe the more times you load game...the more chances are game will glitch and bug out.
For time being i'm afraid of recent corrupted saves so much i restart game before every load, so there is only ONE load every session. I didn't encounter any bugs so far...but thats a workaround and not a solution.

It's possible the more squads you have setup the more likely the no boxes problem happens. I have 4 squads and the first two just have blank portraits, but the 3rd and 4th squads have no boxes.

Noticed that this problem has something to do with the d3d 11 renderer. The d3d 9 renderer updates portraits when changing headgear or body armor. Find it to be more stable in general as well, but d3d 11 is somewhat faster.

I noticed that when I alt tabbed out of the game and back they all disappeared.
also when a load a game with out exiting the game first the portraits vanish, but I exit the game and reload they are fine.
For me happens in both dx9 and dx11.

Possibly something different with our system specs? Portraits in my game are not affected by alt-tabbing. My specs:

i7-2670QM
Nvidia GT 540M
Intel HD 3000 (not used for the game)
8GB RAM
SSD
Windows 7 x64

I use the Direct3D 9 renderer with DirectX9EX active in fullscreen mode. Without DirectX9EX, or with the D3D 11 renderer, can't minimize the game. (The task bar shows, but the game screen remains on top of everything else.)

edit: not sure about loading. I usually exit and restart the game. Find that weird things in general happen when the game is loaded without exiting.

Also I once used DirectX9EX and portraits seems to work...idea crossed my mind but i quickly disregarded such thoughts...that its connectd with DX libraries.

I just tested the DirectX9EX feature and it seems to work fine for me, with the portraits updating properly when i add/remove an helmet on a character. Saving the game this way and relaunching the game in DirectX11 mode keeps the portait update.

The way it worked properly was with these settings :

Allow DirectX9Ex : yes
Full Screen : yes
Rendering device : Monitor 1- NVidia GeForce GTX 770 (drivers up to date)
VSync : yes
Video mode : 1920 x 1080 @ 32 bit color
