Steps to Reproduce:

i7-2670QM (Laptop)
Nvidia GT 540M

Severity:
No biggie. Just deleted the weapon rack. Can't stock weapons, though.

If weapon racks won't work, try using storage chests, which accepts all item types. Though the crafters may have to store the weapons manually.

Crap! Now the same thing just happened with armor storage! My armor smith was making sneaky chain, finished a batch, ran up to the armor storage barrel, and crash.
@Aereto, thanks. Am using that and the sales counter for storage now. The automatic storage thing was kinda nifty, though. Kinda sucks that it causes crashes. Although knowing what causes the crash (more-or-less) is good too, since it makes the crashes preventable, and lets me get on with the game!
Also noticed that it's safe to use the weapon storage rack and the armor storage barrel-thing as long as you keep an eye on your smiths and manually transfer the weapons/armor before their inventory gets filled up. It appears that the crash is caused by something in the automatic transferring of weapons and armor to their respective storage receptacles in particular.

Might help narrow the problem down: I luckily had a save from right before the armor was transferred, crashing the game. I noticed that the armor storage had space for just two sets of sneaky chain, but my smith had three in her inventory. Also possibly relevant, two of the sets of sneaky chain were in her backpack, while one was in her inventory (marked "inventory").
Save file is available
here, if anyone wants to take a peek.
EDIT: Yup, cleared up the armor storage barrel (transferred all of the junk stuff to the storage chest, aka trash can), and the automatic armor storage is working again. Time to rebuild my weapon storage rack.
Question to the mods of this forum: is it preferable here to post additional information via edit, like what I just did here, or by posting a new reply? Advantages and disadvantages to both, and I was wondering what is most useful to you.

editing a current post is usually when you're describing the same issue at that time.
a new post is mostly for when you have new different info. it also triggers the new post available under the tab." View unread posts"
so either way is fine.

Thanks for the clarification. Got it, I think:
elaboration/clarification of same info -> edit,
new additional info -> new post,
new issue -> new thread?

new bug
new post.
search first, as the bug may already be posted in another topic.
this pertains to bugs that are of the same game build version. since not everyone changes version numbers in their posts to reflect that it's still present in the new game build version.

Sorry haven't confirmed this fixed yet. Just got my base up and running (again), and I haven't yet gotten a storage container filled. Rest assured that Builder Burn is on the job, cobbling together masked helmets and plated longboots by the dozen.
edit: can confirm that this is fixed. Thanks! Tested in 0.74.13.
