So...I import my squad from my old save.....found out that I got nothing in my building categories...

I can confirm this bug. Started a new game with new character and can build buildings, but if I import my squad from previous versions I can not.

Oh, thank god it wasn't just me. Got so bad I went into the towns like Bad Teeth to look for building plans to see if they just all got removed or something.

HI, Same for me, my squad of 26 can't build anything, You are not alone, but I think (hope) the devs fix that in update this week.

Yup only on the imported game thought.
Started an new game and had all the basics including building a camp.
But imported that game to 90.4 without checking the research box and was in the same boat as importing older games, no options to build.
Imported the same save with the research box checked and had all the options.

I also have this problem, but after reaching a town and finding that the vendors had no building blueprints i figured it must be a bug.

Would it be possible till he can find a permanent solution to put in a vendor in a town with the starting buildings in a bundle like the old "Learn how to Farm" book for a cost of 1 to give imported games the base production buildings?
Seems like the best way to go until he can figure out whats causing the old game imports to remove all research.

Same thing here. From what I tested, importing a game without importing research seems to clear even the basic thing that you can build. I simply tried a new game and saved, then tried to import the game without the research and resulted in having nothing to build. I imported again from the new game with the research and all seemed to work fine.
Now if you have already imported a game and have lost the research, well, you're screwed for the moment. A good work around would be, as said earlier, to have the basic research available in shops.

It works but you will have the starting money of the save game you import on (meaning 0 on Rock bottom). You also lose your buildings if you had bought any. Those built should also be lost but I can't confirm...

However in my new game a platoon 4 slot was never even created so on first attempt my characters didn't import. I renamed my Nameless_4 to Nameless_1 and it works. my characters are there and i can build/research with my old peeps.
Keep in mind i did not test this with more than one platoon yet. Also i do not know of a way to import buildings and money so you will lose everything not on a character by using this method of importing until they fix the bug. Its not perfect but its a work around.
