So I have noticed since I came back for the beta, that stumbling enemies are given an immunity to being hit. Enemies are automatically blocking(and making a blocking sound) during their stumble animation while being visibly hit and not taking any damage during stumble duration.
However, when executing a double overhead swing animation, and the first part of the attack connects and causes a stumble... the second swing in the dual attack suffers the auto block. This is really frustrating when I suddenly have a character in a 2 on 1 where they are now stuck finishing a meaningless 2 part attack and during this process get hit themselves. Further, if the enemy is going to be protected by my attacks for the duration of their stun, please introduce some AI so that I do not have to micromanage every character so that they switch targets and stop wasting their time on immune enemies, and increasing their vulnerability in larger battles.
lastly, I often find my characters getting wailed on by enemies even throughout the process of being stunned, so the stun-lock feels like a one-sided, frustrating experience, causing me some embarrassing shouting at my screen with consequent reloads.
[0.91.4] AI stunlock protection is OP + breaks combo atk
NPC combat mechanics do not differ from player to npc. Player Units get this "auto-blocking" aswell, provided you have the stats for it, aswell as not being bogged down by gear that impedes your combat ability. But it's just an application of your defense skill. They are not actually immune to your attacks, and can still be hit if you have the attack skill for it.. I have noticed though that there feels like an increase in defense. I wonder if the AI is actually switching to Block Only while they are staggering, and switching back when they no longer are. That would explain a few things.LycheeNut wrote:

When you get staggered, hit that block only button, and you'll see a major difference.
Yeah, no.
It's definitely something else. When a hungry bandit with 6 def (26 if it turned on block) stops my guy with 91 attack for a full 8 seconds while he's swinging a Edge 5 katana with 60 dex and 0.9x speed then it is definitely not anything to do with atk/def.
It seems that during the animation of them staggering they seem to be unable to be attacked. This also includes from turrets as well as melee as I've had someone in stagger have 4 turret gunners unable to hit him with over 24 shots.

Yeah that's definately not what is supposed to be happening. I do know that there are times a unit animates a type of "falling on the ground", where they become unhittable until they get back up, but your units share this same pattern. Is that what you're talking about, or just general stumbling? I've been able to hit units who have stumbled with a measly 30 atk before, though there's nothing saying this couldn't be a new issue. Just some thoughts.Azumazi wrote:Yeah, no.

when enemies are staggered, I cannot hit the enemy at all. If I get staggered I keep getting hit, resetting the stagger animation and thus the "stun-locking". it's not a +20 defense bonus or for them, because I tested this for hours, and not once did I succeed in landing a hit on those staggering animations.
