Fog Islands Way too Foggy
I'm not sure if the fog thickness is what you had in mind but there is absolutely no visibility in fog islands. I have a base there and the NEW fog broke my game. There is nothing i can do or see while in my base in Fog island.
Even when i zoom in all the way, the fog is so thick that I cant make out the character i am zooming on.
Please fix or Fog island will be unplayable and whatever future you plan for it will be pointless cause no one will be able to go in there. (as of 91.19)

Actually, yeah, it's very difficult to move my guy through the region without relying on the map to give move orders, and that's making me pretty certain I'll just be bait for the fogmen.
I like that the fog is more substantial, but this is too much.
One thing I'm noticing is how seamlessly it's going into the interiors of buildings. Is it possible to have the interior environment override the external environment the same way is done for buildings with terrain? Maybe have that in effect until the building is in a destroyed state.

And, thinking of sandstorms here now, a building in a destroyed state might diminish external environmental effects somewhat, maybe by half?

Yeah, I just tried to make the run out of Fog Islands. I agree, totally unplayable. Something seems to be going on with the effect accelerating, I noticed. As soon as you start a game in Fog Islands, it starts okay and then the fog accumulates and accumulates until nothing can be seen at all.
I also noticed the fog doesn't affect sneak and visibility, whatsoever. NPCs can see you clear as day.
But what made it unplayable is that even after I'd halfway navigated my way out, Fogmen found me and the game just crashed.
I'm importing out, so no more Fog Islands testing for me on x.19.

my main base is based in the fog islands and while I'm focused there a super think fog consumes the camera view I have to voom all the way in to one of my people there just to see even them I still can't see much. I tried to move the camera to another location at different speeds an so far nothing worked and if you move fast enough you can see the fog trying to follow the camera. I've also checked my other out posts an had no issues but I was only there for a moment. I will try to send one of my characters out of the zone while tracking them and see if it will follow outside the area.

so I tracked a couple of my people out of the area an the fog stopped right where it ended an when looking into the fog from the out-lining area it acts and looks normal
only way to navigate the area right now is the map an luck so if you don't mind seeing no more than 5ft around you, then you best be very well trained in offensive and defensive combat and with a run speed of 18 or better otherwise avoid the area until patched

Yeah seems the fog is locked onto the front of the camera.
I was able to run out of the islands, save and reloaded and it went way.
But any save inside the fog islands is unseeable.
also noticed that after poking about for a while the game really started to lag in the fog.

I ended up getting my solo guy's move speed up to 24 and decided to venture back to Mongrel. With the same camera technique described above I was able to painstakingly locate a shopkeeper, then sent my guy back out. It seems so close, but just too much fog accumulation. If that's toned down I think we might just have the right balance. Somehow, though, Mongrel should be relatively visible. They wouldn't have built the town there if no one could even ever see their way to a building.
Adjusting the graphical sliders doesn't seem to affect this at all, and neither does the game speed. You can kind of 'Out run' the fog with fast camera zoom/pan but that only gives you a brief glimpse of your surroundings. Some kind of opacity or density needs to be addressed on it.

I double that! And relying on my keen eye i can tell that fog settings themselves are perfectly fine, because upon loading, and while swinging the camera around, you can see that Mongrel is still perfectly clear of fog, and fog density around and below the town is fine as well. It's just the dense cloud of fog following the camera, obscuring everything, nothing more. I suggest renaming the topic accordingly, because it's obviously a camera glitch

Agrh, of course, they've used aftereffect instead of particles for rain, and changing fog effect type to rain has produced what we've seen.
Thanks for the FCS diggin, pal!
p.s. i'd upload this as a mod if i were you, but i wouldn't change fade settings though.

here is a 3 step fix and I'll upload a fix on nexus for those that don't know how to work the modding tool or are too lazy to do it them selves
