I fixed that crash.
As for the problem where you get the config window come up twice then a crash, I don't know what causes it but it can be solved by doing a fresh install.

I installed from gamefront 0.25.4. Then i put it on C:/Program Files(X86) instead of C:/. Then once i played it the first time it updated into 0.26.4 and then i keep getting those crashes. Uninstalled and installed multiple times from there. I run on Windows 7 64bit if that helps in any way shape or form. And one last thing. Awesome great. Sooooooooooo much potential. Can't wait to play it on demo a little bit the buy it.

I tried installing it again but i am STILL getting the crash because of the double window thing. I will uninstall and wait for this to be fixed or a good link for me.

Ok, the 0.25.4 is the right installer to download so you have that right.

Some people have trouble running in c:/program files/ type locations because of windows being annoying, try installing to c:/ or to another drive or c:/games/ etc. Also try running as administrator.
And when you try a re-install, make sure you delete the entire kenshi folder first so there are no old files left to mess it up. (the /saves/ folder has your savegames, you don't have to delete that one)

I put it in c:/program files(x86) not c:/program files. Also i tried downloading it into c:/kenshi and it gave me this.

Image

I clicked retry several times but that did not work so i clicked Ignore.

As i tried to update, i got this.

Image

Then i tried going into core.exe since kenshi.exe is not existent in my folder. I put the game into windowed mode so i could take this next picture.

The game works on 0.25.4 but updating it or having it in any higher version is voodoo on this game the way i see it.

I fixed it. This is EXACTLY what i did so if anyone else has problems do this.

1. Delete EVERYTHING from Kenshi. From desktop top, in you Harddrive. Everywhere. even the downloads folder EVERYTHING.
2. Go to lofigames.com and click the DOWNLOAD HERE button on the right side of the page.
3. This takes you to indiedb.com. Now click the red pinkish DOWNLOAD NOW button.
4. This gives you a pop up. Click the Kenshi button not the community. (Versions will change over time so im not saying specific versions)
5. Once downloaded, install it into C:/Kenshi. Don't put it into program files or program files (x86).
6. The next few steps are super duper important Once that is that, right click Kenshi on your desktop and do RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. Then wait for Wyupdate to pop up and update thegame to the most current version.
7. Delete Kenshi.exe on your desktop, it is not needed anymore.
8. Now go to C:/Kenshi or wherever you downloaded your game and look for _core.exe. You will use that to play the game. If you want to, you can make a shortcut of this and rename it Kenshi.

Game should work perfectly now. God am i fucking (excuse my language) happy this works. Really happy. Keep up the great work Chris! Cheers!.

PS. Once i get some money going im going to definantly donate to you, i really want this game to come out its too good.

Installing in C:\Kenshi rather than C:\Program Files (x86)\Kenshi fixed it for me.

Alternatively, you can also start up the game by going into the Kenshi directory and using the _core.exe
Intel i5 4690k Overclocked to 4.6GHz at 1.276v
16 GB of Corsair Vengence RAM @ 1800MHz
MSI GTX 970 OC to 1515:3956

I am also getting two config windows and then a crash. I have to choose the rendering subsystem in the first config windo then the ogre engine config window pops up and when I hit okay the game crashs. It worked fine when I just had the Demo, but after I bought the game on desura it started to crash when ever I try to run it. I was not able to find the file that is supposedly generated when it crashed. I get the same message that appocalypticdoom shows in the first post. I tried to start Kenshi from the core.exe like it says in the last post and had the same thing happen.

Don't know Wraith, but I can say MANY titles simply will not function from that Windows 7 \Program files(x86) folder.

My money is on that being the entire source of the problem. Make a new directory, and run as administrator to be safe.

I use c:\games\Steam\...\Kenshi

If you've somehow got your Steam installation there, you may have bigger problems than just Kenshi.

Same thing happened to me when I installed the version from moddb since there's no auto update to version .50. It opened a second window stating gnu something and then just crash with the crash message. However (using windows 7) is right click and start the game as admin and it seemed to work but there's no saying if I need to input registration or unlock the game or anything...still haven't time to play but will check some more later...
